Hey everyone, its time for another Thunder release! This one’s a fairly big update with a lot of new additions, changes, and quality of life improvements! I’ll list out a summary of all the update points here, but if you’d like to see the full changes, check out the following link: https://github.com/thunder-app/thunder/releases/tag/v0.2.1%2B12
Before I get on to the update notes, I would also like to announce here that Thunder is now on Google Play Store! I’ll make a full announcement of this in a separate post, but I’ll do my best to keep all the different versions in sync (GitHub, Google Play, and TestFlight)
The link to the Google Play Store is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hjiangsu.thunder
Important: Due to a change in certificates, please re-install the application
This update brings a few major features:
- Support for 2-column viewing - this is an option available in the settings to allow for 2-column feeds
- Various UI improvements - even more UI improvements have been added to improve the overall experience of Thunder
- Login flow improvements - you’ll have an easier time logging in if you encounter an error
- Improvements to comment threads - you can hold a comment to get more actions, and also toggle button actions as an alternative from swipe gestures
- Improvements to sharing - you can share even more types of posts and media by long pressing on a post
- Improvements to swipe gestures - you can disable swipe gestures, set them to no action. Image swipe gestures are also been improved
- Miscellaneous - removed Sentry error logging, added hourly sort options, added debug page to settings for troubleshooting
As always, this is an alpha release, so do expect bugs to pop up here and there. We have a Matrix space if you would like to join in on discussions: https://matrix.to/#/#thunderapp:matrix.org
If you find any issues or would like to suggest features, please open up a new issue! As always, contributions are always welcomed here.
As always, I would just like to thank everyone so far for the amazing support so far. Thunder is still a project that I can only work on the side, and it has been incredible so far. A lot of my time has been taken up to work on improvements to Thunder, and to maintain active and meaningful conversations to improve the overall experience for Thunder.
If you would like to show a token of appreciation, you can buy me a coffee! The donations will help support some of the development overhead costs (e.g., apple developer program for TestFlight builds) and other costs!
Thanks again for everything so far, and I hope you enjoy this update! Here’s another cookie for you for reaching the end of this post 🍪
Obtainium, which downloads from GitHub
Just wondering, but could you try it again and see if its still throwing the warning message? I sent in an appeal but I'm not sure what the status of it is
I just got this warning for the first time when installing v0.2.1-alpha.1+13, apk obtained through the GitHub release page.
