A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

In the first episode Augustus uses the phrase "fast as boiled asparagus", which is noted by contemporary Roman historians to be one of the odd phrases he made up and commonly said ("as fast as asparagus boils")

[off topic] Lindsay Davis is the author of the novel "The Silver Pigs" It's the first book in a series about a Roman 'public investigator' named Falco. In one of the books he's made up a Roman underworld slang, because there's no actual record of Roman underworld slang.
