And while the other guy may not be a Russian (at least he doesn't admit it) he's still a pretty awful person. One of his most recent post replies is talking about how great killing LGBT people would be, and how he'd be for that since it would "destroy the LGBT in small parts" and somehow lead to "fully destroying LGBT".

Not surprising whatsoever.

To be clear I did meet some nice people when I visited Russia briefly, there are horrible people everywhere, not just in Russia ๐Ÿ˜…

Yeah there are horrible people everywhere, where you live doesn't have as much correlation with how much of an awful person you are as some people might think. These people aren't awful because of their nationality but because they are awful disgusting people.

I think living in a place or situation that's more difficult plays a role, it's a lot easier to be kind when everyone around you is kind too.

That is true, in places where everyone are assholes it's harder to be nice. Though I still maintain that people are responsible for their own behavior and not being assholes themselves, even if it seems hard. Other people's behavior isn't an excuse.
