It could also be thats how the dance classes where scheduled.

But i do like your scenario. For once i wish the movies would have taken the creative liberties to show this.

I mean, the whole idea of Hogwarts dance classes were invented for the films. It wouldn't have been much more of a stretch to include the other Houses.
