Memes that are too meirl for /c/meirl.

Rules:

  1. Respect the community. If you're not into self-deprecating/dark/suicidal humor then this place isn't for you. Kindly just block and move on. This is just how some of us cope.

  2. Respect one another.

  3. All titles must begin with 2meirl4meirl. This is for multiple reasons. One is just so you can be lazy with titles but another is so people who aren't into this kind of humor can avoid it.

  4. Otherwise just the general no bigotry, no dickishness, no spam, no malice, etc stuff.

Sidebar will be updated when I feel like and considering I'm Sadboi extraordinaire we'll see when that will be.

Meme aside, I feel like this is an overall positive thing, finding a character you relate to at that level seems more likely to help people struggling in the long run, especially if it's handled tactfully and not romanticised. Even if it's a tragic or unfortunate character, it can still be something that unifies fans, gets them talking, and that can lead to seeking help or feeling better.

I'd also say that seeing someone you relate to (fictional or not) can give you some distance / objectivity to see the situation in a different way. Like, what's the fanfic alternate universe where the character doesn't kill themselves look like?

Yes exactly, I originally put something about self-reflection but it didn't feel quite right, but you worded it so eloquently.
