This is all John "I invented all the rules" McCarthy's fault, he used to openly talk about how it would be illogical to take a point for minor infractions, and so now it's turned into all this.

If they don't want to take a point, there should be predetermined positions that the fouled fighter can choose to restart in.

"Ok, you grabbed the cage, fighter A chooses to restart in top half guard. GO"

It's incredibly simple to stop all this.
