I've been working on this neosoul riff for a while now and I'm finally starting to get it, though I did have to simplify it a bit. Still needs a lot of work though.

What are you working on?

I am a relative beginner and middle aged, so I am focusing on feel rather than technical prowess. I am trying to learn bits and pieces (literally seconds) of SRV's Texas Flood, specifically his 1984 Montreal performance. It is technically not too crazy in parts, but playing those parts clean and with the right feel is proving just as challenging. It's like playing BB King. Sure, you can hit the right notes, but did you hit them the right way?

Ambitious! Very nice. I should try and learn some SRV, and no, I will not be able to hit the notes the right way

Looking at the tabs, he's basically just dancing around within the pentatonic box, but very, very quickly. What is killing me is those bends and vibrattos in what seems like perfect pitch. How? Anyway, that's the fun. Thankfully I use Roto Pinks which come with spare high E's.

EDIT: This is the other song I am practicing. I am also not skilled enough for it but that's the fun part.

How?

Technical prowess. Don't skip.
