it's about the money: the board of directors; company investors; other highly placed people also have investments in commercial real estate and it's losing money since people aren't showing up any more for work and spending money while they're stuck there.
like the environment or human rights; it doesn't matter if they're not making money.
They also get tax breaks from the city and State for maintaining minimum occupancy in their buildings.
