A premium mobile Linux operating system from Jolla. Sailfish OS is a continuation of legendary MeeGo (of Nokia fame).
Sailfish OS is an alternative for mainstream offerings for a stable and secure daily driver in smartphones. Many Sony Xperia devices +much more supported now!

I feel the same way; I've seen some people around here mention SailfishOS but I didn't really think Jolla were still kicking as a company.
What's the situation with SailfishOS? In the past I wasn't clear on what aspects of the OS (if any) were open? In the past I was under the impression that the UX /UI was proprietary but I can't remember how I reached that conclusion
Taking a quick look at the site today, it looks as though certain (maybe enterprise oriented?) software features sit behind a subscription, such as Android app compat
They had to restructure / remove Russian investment I think, which took time. They’ve been back to regularly releasing updates for around six months. Os is a mix of open and closed as indicated here
Android support used to be pay once, but now will be sub based in some way, potentially to get the os updates not sure tbh.
