So in your opinion would you rather see it be an OpenCollective or an in-app tip jar? There's ups and downs to both.
On one hand, using OpenCollective would have a 10% fee which is lower, but would have less "publicity" to it. On the other hand, the in-app tip jar would be more visible but would have a 15% fee on it (I'd have to make it recurring to even get that percentage, there's a 30% fee on non-recurring transactions IIRC).
I'm fine with either, or even both if that's something that would make more sense.
I think it will be more profitable for you to include an in-app tip jar because it will be easier to participate (less engagement needed).
Edit : i would like an in-app tip better personnally
Is Liberapay an option? They don't have processing fees: https://en.liberapay.com/about/faq
Both/all options makes the most sense but an in app tip jar with recurring donations is really great.
I like the others as well because people can see transparently how much is being donated but yeah in app is definitely convenient too
I'd rather see it in whatever platform ensures you get the most % of the actual money. If the tip jar approach means Apple gets 30%. It's against their ToS to link to off-platform payment solutions, right, so you wouldn't be able to put a link to OC in the settings, I presume. Both is probably fine, in reality, money is money. OG users like us would just do whatever's more practical. I already use OC to donate to other FOSS projects, so this would just add to that monthly spend.
