I'm super into selfhosting services! Rather than use Google Drive and MS Word for things, I run instances of similar open-source software on my home server. That way, I have terabytes of cloud storage accessible from anywhere, and can edit documents via any web browser with far less reliance on tech monopolies. As well as that, all my data is stored on my own hardware, so I'm in full control and giant companies can't sift through it.

Shoutouts to [email protected] and [email protected] (and probably others I haven't come across yet).

For anyone that's interested: It's not difficult to set up and you can use any old laptop you have lying around to host services.

I really want to join in... But hardware is so expensive here in Brazil. Even the usual "oh just find someone selling an used business machine and upgrade it s bit" strategy is surprisingly exoensive.

I could use my main desktop... But that would mean dedicating a lot of CPU time to backgrounds tasks, and leaving the PC on all the time
