Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp

Prep: 5 minutes mins

Cook: 10 minutes mins

Total: 15 minutes mins

Ingredients:

▢ ¼ cup unsalted butter

▢ ¼ cup honey

▢ 4 cloves garlic large, minced

▢ 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice freshly squeezed

▢ 1 tablespoon olive oil divided

▢ 21 ounces shrimp or prawns, tails on or off

▢ 1 pinch salt to season

▢ 1 pinch pepper to season

▢ 4 lemon slices to serve

▢ 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped

Instructions:

  1. Melt butter in a non stick pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the honey, lemon juice and garlic; stir well to combine all of the flavours together and cook for 30 seconds until the garlic is fragrant. Remove from heat.

  2. Pour out just over half of the honey garlic butter from the pan, leaving 2 tablespoons in the pan; reserve the rest for later.

  3. Add 2 teaspoons of the oil into the same pan and sear half of the shrimp for about 2 minutes each side, or until just cooked through and opaque. Transfer to a plate; set aside. Wipe pan over with paper towel and repeat with remaining oil and shrimp.

  4. Throw the cooked shrimp back into the pan and pour in the remaining honey garlic butter sauce, stirring through the shrimp to evenly coat. Season with salt and pepper if desired and garnish with parsley.

Notes:

Tip: You can swap out parsley for rosemary or thyme to add a completely different flavour profile to this incredible Honey Garlic Butter!

I've never understood leaving the tails on for recipes like this. Makes it messier to eat and leaves a bunch of the lovely garlic butter on the tails which won't get eaten.

The tails are supposed to impart some shrimpy flavor into the sauce. But I agree, it just makes them a hassle to eat. I know someone who actually likes eating the tails.

The texture of that must be awful! But who am I to judge, I've never even tried eating the tails

Agreed. It's terrible. I was convinced once to try it and was not impressed.

It's usually the fried shrimp tails but even deep fried they're too... I dunno how to describe it... fiberous.

Sharp. The tails are uncomfortably sharp.
