It would be interesting to see an analysis of deforestation for dairy vs palm oil. We only ever hear about deforestation for meat, so idk what it looks like for dairy

That would be interesting, but orangutans in particular have increasingly little land upon which they can live and it's largely due to palm oil plantations. The situation is a bit urgent for them.

Ok. But the Amazon is being destroyed for meat? And that’s a lot of animals

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Okay, and? That's just whataboutism. It doesn't change that orangutans are endangered by palm oil plantations.

I can’t tell if this is satire or not? Ok fine, one animal is endangered by palm oil. Thousands are endangered by meat deforestation.

That's just whataboutism. We don't need to not care about orangutans just because other animals are also in danger.

Right… you brought whataboutism into a thread about the impact of meat and dairy and made it about palm oil.

Do you do this on articles about Hurricane Helene? I’m really lost as to how we got here if you’re now saying you are against whataboutism

The topic is vegan cheese. I was discussing vegan cheese, perfectly on topic.
