Ok, cool.

Let's revisit this when Rockstar gets universal adoration for GTA6, which will absolutely require a Rockstar account & launcher.

GTA6 will almost certainly be a multiplayer game. As others have pointed out, at least there's a logic behind it for a multiplayer game. There is exactly zero reason, other than corporate bs, to have this in a single player game. That's been the argument in this entire thread, so GTA6 possibly getting praise while also requiring a separate account is entirely irrelevant.

You really think GTA6 won't have a single player component? And that it won't require a Rockstar account/launcher?

Gta6 isn't singleplayer only, do you really need it spelled out for you?

Multi-player games can use being a multi-player game as an excuse for "needing" a launcher.

An always offline, single player game, where no one will ever see or touch your progress, does NOT need a launcher, and realistically should and could be sold on GoG with no DRM.

The only way to change this pattern is by getting mad, and not buying games that add a launcher to a single player game. (Helldivers was different because they added it as a forced requirement months after release. Even though it had been proven it was not neccessary)

You see, there's the thing. Sony is not requiring any sort of launcher. It's an account.

"But mah privacy!"

Again, no launcher. What exactly are they going to track? That you're playing their game?

Launcher, just an email, doesn't matter. There is absolutely no reason to have it in the game, and I'm very happy we are starting the trend of saying "Fuck you, no."

"Fuck you... Unless I really like you. But extra fuck you if you run a non-PC gaming platform."

I mean, why give GabeN our email addresses then?

Because it is necessary to keep your account yours for one.

You don't need an email address to run a single player game, why is that so hard for you to understand?

Yup. Sadly it's always the same old song and dance. Death by a thousand cuts because basic consumer rights don't actually exist.
