My first* photo from Sky (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by [email protected] to c/skychildrenoflight

Finally got all my Sky screenshots from my phone on to my pc so I can look through them properly, might post my favourites here. I'm slow enough at getting things done that hopefully it won't be spammy, but if it is, let me know lol

So anyway, this was one of the first friends I made who wasn't also a moth, they took me under their wing lol, even traded hearts for a while, but they slowly logged on less and less, and I haven't seen them at all in a couple of weeks now, which is sad. They always had the best outfits, and I'm looking like such a moth ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

*Technically my second, but the first was just of the gate to Prairie Cave, that I needed to figure out what spirits I was missing to get through ๐Ÿ˜‚

E: Also from this game, not when I first played, gonna have to see if I have any screens from way back then ๐Ÿค”

Omg, I'd just written a whole reply and hit cancel by mistake and it's gone ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Ok, lets try again:

it perfectly captured the spirit of a veteran adopting a moth

That's exactly what I thought ๐Ÿ˜‚

I really love your photo and the story behind it! How long did it take you to make it up "the mountain" for the first time? I had a similar feeling about wanting to conquer it, but was too scared to go anywhere near for a good while lol

Even though I love talking about stuff that interests me and I make a conscious effort to engage with stuff on Lemmy, Iโ€™m more of a lurker and I canโ€™t help itโ€ฆ

I can very much relate! I lurked lemmy for a good while before I found a community for the game I had on my mind at the time, but life got in the way, and I haven't actually played Sims since (I have some really complicated builds on my mind, but not the time or brain power to figure out how to get them done lol), but when I was trying to think of a more casual game I could get in to, Sky came back to mind, and it very quickly became my "special interest" (how NT's like to call things those of us who are autistic get really in to lol). I do still lurk on the reddit Sky subs without an account, mostly to double check the seasonal candle locations and general updates, but it's so nice to actually be able to share the thoughts and photos I have, instead of them just going around in my own head, so I'm glad you appreciate it, and I appreciate you communicating back, so that I'm not just talking in to the void lol

I also second the thanks to @[email protected] for setting this community up and updating it consistently, hopefully at some point the reddit subs will become redundant ๐Ÿ˜

Ouch....

I don't remember much of my early days in Sky, but I recall finishing the game the next day or so after taking the screenshot. But holy cow, the ending hit me hard, past me didn't know something like that was possible in a game!? From that day I kept on logging in regularly, although I feel you, I still avoided Wasteland and Eden like the plague for weeks after that. "I ain't dying a second time, nuh uh! I'll be over here playing with the fishies"๐Ÿ˜†

Ahahaha well here's to many more special interests and memories then!

Wow, that's so brave!

I can't lie, I looked up some spoilers before going, so I knew the gist, and was too overwhelmed to feel anything, but on the other hand, I can't listen to most of the aurora songs, because they hit too close to home ๐Ÿ˜ญ

That's spot on lmao ๐Ÿ˜‚

Though now I'm not as big a scaredy cat, and can get through both relatively easily. I even did Eden weekly for a bit, but I still need to sit there with my map and mark off each statue I light, otherwise I lose track, which takes so long, so I've stopped going for now (after hitting 150 wing buffs, I don't see a point until I ascend enough spirits to get closer to the 200 mark, shards provide enough candles).

Wow, thatโ€™s so brave!

Must have happened the opposite of what happened to you, I was so overwhelmed by Sky's world that I didn't feel a thing and then as soon as I heard Aurora's Orbit theme for the first time all the pent-up emotions came rushing in :P

after hitting 150 wing buffs, I donโ€™t see a point until I ascend enough spirits to get closer to the 200 mark

Can only agree, after 150 wing buffs I'd rather take fewer trips to Eden and enjoy them until I get close to that magical 200, than to make the game into even more of a chore...

hen as soon as I heard Auroraโ€™s Orbit theme for the first time all the pent-up emotions came rushing in

She's got that touch, doesn't she.. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yeah, being able to let go of the weekly Eden run was such a relief.. Less burn out on WL hunting also means I'm more available to help others find theirs, which I did for the first time the other day, and it was super satisfying ๐Ÿ˜
