Alternative title 'Twister 2: Geoengineering can save lives and is good actually'.

That's all I have to report. I had no idea this 'sequel' to the 1996 film Twister was some light geoengineering propaganda. Weirdly, climate change isn't mentioned once (correct me if I'm wrong). Which begs the question, why even introduce the idea of geoengineering as a solution to your tornado problem? Oh right, to provide some meaning to your characters otherwise meaningless lives. 'We have to help the townspeople', 'I want to make a difference' blah blah blah. I'm sure I'm butchering the actual dialog.

The only returning 'character' is Dorothy the scientific tornado instrument (a term pinched from a google search which pinched it from some wiki).

The film could also work as a stand-in for a very boring country and western mix-tape (or spotify playlist). I don't remember the original films soundtrack being so dull.

This movie blows.

Awesome ๐Ÿ‘

I don't think I would have minded all the issues I had with the film if it had a better cast. The actors in this film just don't have the presence of the og crew and soundtrack. This feels like a paint by numbers, made for television movie, stuffed with forgettable characters and actors. Not that the og was anything high brow but that cast sold it.

There is so much weird, incongruent stuff in this film.

Like why was there a single tram carriage in that large town? It looked so out of place. There is a very strange stage setting scene of the tram rolling ever so slowly down the main road of this midwestern town. Does this small city only have one tram car for public transport? Is it a weird hybrid tourist area? Are tourists travelling to midwestern farming towns to go on a tram ride for the day, a tram that appears to only go up and down a small section of the main road?

I think my biggest beef is that the movie horrifically murders three young uni students at the start of the film. All because the writers have no original ideas, let's just steal the og film opening but make it meaner and more gruesome, it will be a great back story for our main character. But it's not because the main character is so boring (and the lead actor hasn't been given enough to work with).

I could go on. I need to let go.

yeah I think we stopped watching about when the cowboy dude (who looked like the most interesting character in the movie) teamed up with boring but somehow knows everything about tornadoes girl. aside from cowboy, every other character just seemed so incredibly uninteresting, flat and pointless. and the point the magic devices at the tornadoes bullcrap took any immersion and reality out of it anyway. none of the adventure of the original

Haha, I guess I didn't think about it that deeply. I can barely remember the original from 20+ years ago.

I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

I was pretty annoyed from the get go when they killed the three kids but hey, it was on in the background while I was working so I was like, ugh whatever.

But then the next thing was like, wait they tried to geoengineer a tornado away and it grew into monster tornado and killed everyone. Is Twisters going all Jurassic Park? Awesome if so.

But nope because after a lot of nothing we get to a scene where the main character's mum casually drops that the the farmers up in woop woop were cloud seeding for rain... They're what now? Oh and hold your horses, what if you use their cloud seeding tech which totally works in this now clearly science fiction tornado film, with your fireworks and diaper seeding tech to take down some dinosaurs, I mean tornados! Yeah totally let's do it!

So yeah, you know if they had totally not had that stuff I wouldn't have said anything ever about this film.

Burn Hollywood Burn.
