It was well received but this kind of stuff is usually a mistake. Personally I didn't like it, sometime around second season I lost interest because it just felt boring to watch.

It made me feel like I was watching old episodes of Full House with how sappy it got.

I agree, it got too cheesy and predictable since everything was so focused on feelgood moments.
