Does Canada even produce cars? Who do such tariffs even pretend to help?

Canada makes a lot of cars actually. They assemble something like 1.5M - 2M for Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota annually. Have their own branch of the UAW called the CAW.

The tariffs will help make sure those jobs aren't lost through Chinese manufacturers getting $200 billion in direct subsidization, currency manipulation, and some slave labor thrown in as the secret sauce for cost control.
