These data centers use a ton of energy and some state leaders have scrutinized the large facilities. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick earlier this summer questioned whether the state needs power-hungry data centers sucking up energy when ERCOT's energy grid is stretched to the limits during hot summer days.

Can Texas handle it?

Yes.

Can Texas handle it while run by Trumpublicans?

I'm less sure.

Maybe it wouldn't be such an issue if we weren't literally begging crypto miners to throttle back, or if half of new demand weren't expected to come from stupid ass crpyto.

Not that a Google datacenter is some amazing to contribution to society, but at least it's not literally a parasite.
