Fediverse vs Disinformation

472 readers
4 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

Bottom Line

The only purported evidence for the claim that Khelif is trans comes from an undisclosed test performed by an allegedly corrupt sports governing body that may have shown she has a DSD condition. The IOC has said Khelif meets its requirements for participation, with Adams, the IOC spokesman, specifically clarifying, "This is not a transgender issue."

Because Khelif is not transgender, claims attempting to make her victory against Carini an issue about transgender rights or "woke" politics are without basis.

so what you're saying is IBA can't be trusted, glad we finally agree.

Cute. Yes they can't be. But I'm pretty sure they wouldn't exert themselves because of one fighter. It doesn't work that way.

Yet again, like I said before, a conspiracy theory is never a good argument.

Cute

you're literally contradicting yourself. you walked right into that one.

But I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t exert themselves because of one fighter. It doesn’t work that way.

again, TWO fighters. And what are you basing this on? just your feelings?

Yet again, like I said before, a conspiracy theory is never a good argument.

this is just denialism. Conspiracies do happen especially when known criminals are involved.

And If you believe the IBA that these women are transgender, what you're arguing for by default is an IOC conspiracy to cover up their transgenderism. So you are arguing a conspiracy as well. Either way we have an organization conspiring to exert their influence over the issue.

I never ever said any boxing organization is trustworthy. In fact I have many times said they are not. So no, I'm not contradicting myself.

You are the one claiming this is a conspiracy. Shouldn't I be the one attacking you where is your evidence?

Theory of conspiracy is not an argument. I can't believe I have to repeat this so many times!!!

yes please, any time now. but you have not.

Theory of conspiracy is not an argument. I can’t believe I have to repeat this so many times!!!

good thing there's more to what I have been saying. straw manning is not an argument either!!!

I don't attack people like that. I know there is no evidence. So all we can do is present our opinions.

Which is what I'm doing. You are still pretending.
