there we go – I didn't jinx it

a gold medal and an Olympic record

tense stuff: he was 2nd for the first half of the race (possibly deliberate), then led from 400m to 550m, then it was neck and neck with the Italian up until the last length, sometimes 0.1m ahead or behind, then he really poured it on in the last length and won comfortably.

Our medal table now is 🥉 🥇 , both 🏊‍♂️
