So me and my niece are part of an outgroup that is currently being targeted by the hard right, and my sister and I both legitimately fear for the safety of our family.

With the news Biden is dropping out, we are leaving the country.

To be clear: I LIKE Harris, I will be voting for Harris and whoever else is on the blue side of the ballot. But after that we are all getting on a plane because I think regardless of who wins this election, this country will go full concentration-camp fascist within 4 years.

The apathy that I see in my fellow citizens about all of the horrific things surrounding that fucking orange abomination tells me this country WANTS fascism and this time the GOP picked a narcissistic idiot, then next time they won't make that mistake.

So we're packing most of our stuff and shipping it off tomorrow to relatives, voting early, and staying in a sane country for at least a few years.

I hate that I have to do this, I hate that it is even a conceivable issue but some trumpfucker at a protest broke my nieces hand because of who she is and I don't think it's safe to be in a place where that becomes normalized.

In Canada we have a lot of this hard right crap but it's still being pushed into the shadows. Mainline national politics still won't accept a Trump. Other then that, it's a shit show in terms of affordability. I'm thinking of moving to a small town that's cheap as fuck, just gotta convince my city wife, I hate how much of an open asshole people are being post pandemic, nobody has any empathy anymore.

Hope you guys make it out. I've been telling my gay cousin in Texas to fucking move over here.

After the Trump shooting by a 20 year old, my daughter asked why a 20 year old had a gun. I had to explain to her that in the u.s it's legal for a 20 year old to own a rifle, but not buy a beer. She thought this was insanity. She's 13.
