For me, nothing comes close to the MG Metro 6R4 in EA WRC. There’s just something about how it just clicks with my driving style, along with that amazing sounding naturally aspirated V6. I can’t describe it, there’s just a mutual agreement between me and the car where it just works 🤣

Anyone else have a similar thing in other games or even EA WRC?

I'm not too interested in that new EA one, but in Dirt Rally(s) and Dirt 4, my favourite was always the Mini - especially when paired with manual shifting on an H-Shifter and a wheel and pedals. The wobble, the rattle, the struggle to get up a hill, the whole "I've been in one of these in real life" sort of thing.

I liked to drive the more powerful cars too, and they were exciting and exhilarating... but the Mini was always fun :)

Hell yeah, manual shift all the way. I literally don’t drive any sequential shift cars- if I I’m forced to I’ll still drive it as a manual. It’s what the joy of driving is for me to be honest.

I wouldn’t knock EA WRC, it’s still made by Codemasters- the guys behind all the dirt series so it’s still very much a similar game but with the added bonus of a WRC license so you get a shed load more cars and official tracks

That's brave - I tend towards sequential (or even "put it on auto") on the faster, more powerful cars - my reactions are not quite what they used to be :)

I'll probably give the EA one a go at some point on the future, but they recently added an anticheat thing to block it working on Linux (which all my computers use). I guess that'll be fixed eventually.

As stupid as it sounds, I forget which gear I'm in when I use sequential, and spend more time pissing around trying to look at which one I'm in. With manual, I at least have that physical, muscle confirmation as to which I'm in and can make a split second decision as to which I need next. I'm probably just not used to sequential, but I still don't get the enjoyment out of it I guess. That's entirely personal preference though.

Yeah this was a bit of a dick move by EA (intentional or not). A friend of mine also had to write off the game for this exact reason.
