Well ~~the Weimar Republic~~ Germany before the Nazis was also a regressive shithole run by an absolutely terrible monarch. I'm sure the wife had been suffering in Germany for a while

That's the German Empire. The Weimar Republic was an unstable shithole run by a revolving series of coalitions that ended with ze Nazis.
That's right lol I forget how short lived the Republic was
It survived longer than the Nazi reign did though
14.5 years compared to ~12
