I just wanted to share this score from Eddie Harris.

When I hear it I feel in space, or at least, if I ever go to space I would like to hear this song. It feels simple and yet full of emotion.

Eddie is criminally underrated.

I particularly like a very hard to find record called A Tale of Two Cities, on which he does a thing called Illusionary Dreams. There's this big middle section where it's just him talking over a delicious late-nite rhythm section groove, about how he's going into the studio to record this same song with the full production, big band horn section, synthesizers, Latin percussion, everything, never letting on that the whole speil is a reference to the title. It's kinda leaning into his later standup comedy bit but totally deadpan, with no actual punchlines, just a vibe and a whole lot of personality.

A Tale of Two Cities

Now I'm looking for the album, and in the first 10 minutes I can't find it.

Found some used CDs on Amazon. I'll probably get a copy.
