FTFA: “The V4 Supercharger station in France went unnoticed until its opening late last week. The site is located at the Ibis hotel in Clermont-Ferrand and features 12 V4 stalls. One of those is also a pull-through stall, making it much easier for Tesla owners towing a trailer to plug in and charge up their car.
The site also features a large canopy covering 11 of the 12 stalls. While the cover is actually less of a cover and more of a steel structure at the moment, but it will eventually be finished with solar panels.“
Apparently V4 stalls are theoretically capable of 1MW charging. I’m most excited for the pull-through stalls as I haul a small trailer occasionally.
Which Tesla can charge at 1MW? Is it just future proofing?
Future proofing is a major factor and I would think probably the biggest factor. Another factor is the higher voltage support, allowing non-Tesla that currently support 800V to achieve decent charging rates, whereas right now they often get poor charging rates. This is important to reduce charging times, thus preventing charging locations from be clogged with slow charging non-teslas. This was the big push on the supercharger v3, it dramatically improved the throughput at high congestion charging locations, which improves the user experience.
