A retro mini laptop designed for writing. It is a personal, inspiring device where a writer can find solitude and immerse themselves in.

It's built using a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, and can be found here.

After some research, I determined this to be too big for what I'm looking for, but passing on the link to the eBay listing here in case someone else is looking for it.

Display is damaged unfortunately, I didn't do too much research on replacing it so I'm unaware how easy it would be to get a replacement part

Digging the color though, almost bought it just for that alone lmao

Ideally I'd also want a steamdeck style tiny trackpad as well, but id happily sacrifice that for a much better thumb typing experience

Doesn't have to be particularly powerful as I'm probably just going to be remoting into my more powerful VMs anyways

I was gifted an Epson HX-20 early in the 80's. Considered the first laptop computer released. It had battery life of 30-40 hours! Basic, Contacts, Spreadsheet, Terminal, and Word Processor built into it. Offering a generous 16kb or optional 32kb of RAM in addition to a built in micro cassette storage; it was ahead of anything ever offered.

The famous Tandy 100 (and WP-2) series laptops were based off this design.

As I was young I didn't understand the full capacity of the device. However when Tandy released the WP-2 portable word processing device (battery life of 40 hours; 4 AA's). I snatched it up in an instant.

Here's more on all three devices:

Stumbled across this site in my research and it has been essential to getting my UX to a place where it can function as intended. Can't recommend this site enough to any UX owner!
