Communication is important when coordinating the fight against demons. Thus, each member of the Demon Slayer Corps is assigned a black crow who can talk and pass messages. Despite looking rather alike, each of the crows have their own personalities and traits, such as Tanjiro's being intelligent and prideful (frequently calling Tanjiro a "bird-brain"), Tengen's crow being fashionable and Muichiro's having long eyelashes and being abrasive to others.

CorrectionUm actually ... Not all members are assigned a black crow that can speak. Zenitsu is assigned Chuntaro, who is neither a black crow, nor could speak (though he is still classified as a "Kasugai Crow")

In Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, after Austin and Venessa are caught; Dr Evil, in a cliche "Bond-villain" mannerism, decides to slowly lower the two into a tank filled with sharks, with lasers attached to their heads. Then he returns to having dinner, closing the door to the tank. His son, Scott Evil, advising to observe their deaths, and even suggested to simply shoot them with a gun instead, but those advice fell to deaf ears.

CorrectionUm actually ... They didn't have a tank filled with sharks. Due to sharks being on the endangered list at the time, getting sharks was too difficult. Instead, they used sea bass, with lasers attached to their heads.

Mitsuri, the Love Hashira, is one of the fan favourite Hashira. In her backstory, we learnt that she possess immense strength even as a child, easily overpowering even grown man. However, she found herself unable to find a suitor growing up. After her failed marriage negotiations, she realized that she has to hide her true self. She pretended to be weak, held back from eating and even dyed her hair pink in order to be more attractive. In the end, she joined the Demon Slayer Corps to fulfil her goal of finding a suitable husband who is stronger than her, rising to the ranks of a Hashira due to her physical prowess.

CorrectionUm actually ... She didn't dye her hair pink. It became pink because she ate too much sakura mochi.

It was deemed abnormal and thus she dyed her hair black. (However, this doesn't seem to occur in the manga, and was depicted in the anime)

In Invincible, Robot was a rather mysterious figure. He was initially part of the Teen Team, who later joined and was appointed the leader of the new Guardians of the Globe after the previous guardians died. Throughout the series, we see that he is scheming some plan with the Mauler Twins, aiding their escape from prison. It was later revealed that the robot was controlled by a human who suffered serious deformations and illness. He was then aided by the twins to artificially create a body made from his team member's, Rex Splode's, blood. The twins then help transfer his consciousness from the original body to this new one.

CorrectionUm actually ... His consciousness is not transferred to the new body. It was duplicated over to the new body, and the original died of its illness.

In the original 151 Pokemons, Psyduck and Slowpoke are the two "derpy-looking" Water/Psychic types. Psyduck has mystical powers, but doesn't recall using them; which is why it always looks so confused. Meanwhile, Slowpoke is so oblivious that if something bites its tail, it won't even notice for a whole day. In episode 66 of the anime, when the team is tasked by Oak to figure out what causes the evolution of Slowpoke to Slowbro, Misty's Psyduck comes out of it's Pokeball and proceed to have a long, seemingly random and unintelligible conversation with a Slowpoke.

CorrectionUm actually ... Psyduck is not a Water/Psychic type, it is a pure Water type despite it's namesake.

(The Japanese name of Psyduck was Ko-duck, which could mean "child-duck" and thus does not hint at its psychic abilities at all)

Yor Forger, previously Yor Briar, works for Garden as an assassin under the code name "Thorn Princess". She is highly well-suited in her role, having immense physical strength that even easily overpower WISE agent Fiona Frost when playing tennis. She is also highly resistant to poison. She drank a cocktail laced with pufferfish poison, and only felt slightly unwell. When fighting the assassins on the cruise ship, she was unfazed after inhaling poison gas capable of taking down a bear.

CorrectionUm actually ... She did not feel unwell after drinking the poison. She was suffering from a gunshot wound during the previous assignment, and drinking the poison relieved her pain.

Compound V is chemical that plays an important part in The Boys TV series. Supes, who initially were thought to be born naturally, were actually created by Vought when they inject babies with this chemical, granting them super powers. It also boost the performance of Supes when injected and was also responsible for creating super-powered terrorists. In the fight against Supes, even our protagonists, Butcher and Hughie, resorted to using it to gain laser eyes and teleportation respectively.

CorrectionUm actuallly ... Butcher and Hughie did not use Compound V. They used Temp V, which is a newly developed, temporary version of the chemical.

In Jujutsu Kaisen 0, we follow the high school student Yuta Okkotsu. He is cursed by his childhood friend and love interest, Rika; who died in a freak accident and became an extremely powerful, overprotective spirit that harms anyone who threatens him. He became skilled at using a katana, which not only serves for combat purposes but also to controls the cursed energy from Rika.

CorrectionUm actually... Yuta was the one who (unknowingly) cursed Rika, rather it is the other way around, as he was unable to accept her death.

In the final episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, after the protaganists lose the fight against Pucci, Emporio finds himself in Green Dolphin Street Prison. Emporio tricks Pucci into inserting Weather Report's Stand disc into his head, thereby granting him its powers. Using the stand to fill the room with pure oxygen, Emporio finally defeats Pucci. The season ends in a bittersweet moment where we see Emporio and Ermes hitchhiking a ride with Jolyne and Anasui, who are now a couple.

CorrectionUm actually ... Due to Pucci resetting the universe, the characters at the end are not the same as the ones that we've known throughout the story. They resemble their counterparts, but don't share their names. Their names are actually Eldis, Irene and Anakis respectively,

Chisato is an elite Lycoris, an agent of a government-sponsored all-female task force of assassins and spies made up of orphans. She has such great agility that she can dodge bullets at point blank range. Due her poor accuracy with a gun, she uses this skill to dodge enemy attacks while getting closer, allowing her to hit her shots.

spoilerUm actually ... She doesn't have poor gun accuracy. It is because of her insistence of using non-lethal rubber bullets which have a less predictable trajectory which requires her to get closer.

In the Eternity Devil arc, Special Division 4 is sent into a hotel to kill the Eternity Devil who is said to reside in an hotel. After realizing that they are trapped in there, the team falls into disarray. The devil offers to release them if they feed Denji to him. Kobeni attempts to kill Denji to accept the Eternity Devil's offer, but fails. Finally, the devil was defeated when Denji jumping straight into its mouth, sawing through its flesh, finding its heart and destroying it.

spoilerUm actually ... Denji did not find the devil's heart. The devil's heart was inaccessible to the protagonists, and thus it was effectively invincible. However, it still can feel pain and thus was unable to bear the torment of Denji repeatedly attacking him for days, and ultimately revealed the heart to Denji to destroy.

Nichirin Swords are the main weapons used by Demon Slayers in the Demon Slayer Corps. They are forged by special sword smiths, each crafted to fit the Demon slayer's preferences and fighting style, such as:

  • a flexible whip-like sword for Mitsuri,
  • a thin stinger katana for Shinobu; gaining agility and compensating power by using poisons
  • a pair of dual teethed/serrated katana for Inosuke who prefers to saw through his targets instead of slicing
  • a pair of cleavers connected by a chain for Tengen, who whirls it for both offence and defence

spoilerUm actually ... Inosuke's katana is not serrated by design. Inosuke's katana was an ordinary Nichirin katana, but he modified it personally to be serrated, much to the dismay/anger of his sword smith.

In Jujutsu Kaisen, we follow our high school protagonist Itadori Yuji, who are friends with the occult club. After the club unsealed the rotten finger belonging to the King of Curses, Sukuna, other Curses are attracted to it and swarm the school. Yuji swallows the finger to gain its power and saved his friend. Despite being required to exorcise Yuji immediately, Gojo noticed that Yuji has control over his body and thus gave an alternative proposal: postpone Yuji's death sentence until he consumes all 10 of Sukuna's fingers so that Sukuna can finally be eliminated together with Yuji. Thus begins the story of Yuji training under Gojo with the rest of his school mates while he participates in exorcising other Curses.

spoilerUm actually ... Yuji has to consume 20 of Sukuna's fingers because Sukuna has 4 arms.

In Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, we play as multiple different protagonist throughout history as they fight against the Ancient (that the player chose as the antagonist at the early stages of the game).

The list includes:

  1. 26 BC: Pious Augustus, a Roman Centurion
  2. 565 AD: Karim, a Persian swordsman
  3. 1150 AD: Ellia, a court dancer
  4. 1485 AD: Paul Luther, a Franciscan monk
  5. 1760 AD: Dr. Maximillian RoivasHis chapter takes place in 1760 AD
  6. 2000 AD: Alex, an university student

spoilerUm actually ... Pious is not a protagonist, but rather the antagonist after turning into a lich. You play as him at the start and it ends with you choosing which Ancient he will be corrupted by and thus setting the plot into action.

Most Ghibli films have English titles are close in meaning to their original titles, some even are direct translations from Japanese. However some films have different meaning, or lost some meaning, in their English localizations.

  • The Cat Returns's title is "Neko no Ongaeshi"
    • "Neko": the Japanese word for cat
    • "Ongaeshi": the Japanese word for repayment, as with owed favour.
    • thus this means The Cat's Repayment, which better describe the plot of the film
  • Kiki's Delivery Service's title is "Majo no Takkyuubin"
    • "Majo": the Japanese word for witch
    • "Takkyuubin": the Japanese word for delivery service
    • the original title has no reference to Kiki, and was referring to the greater group of witches doing the deliveries
  • Spirited Away's title is "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi"
    • "Sen to Chihiro": meaning Sen and Chihiro
    • "Kamikakushi": meaning mysterious disappearance or death of a person, explained to be done by gods.
    • which have the additional motif of the transition of Chihiro while she was working as Sen

spoilerUm actually ... Takkyuubin is not the Japanese word for express delivery, per se. Takkyuubin, also written as Ta-Q-Bin, is actually a trademark for the express home delivery service provided by Yamato Transport. Though nowadays, it can be synonymous with delivery services, such as how Band-Aid may be synonymous to adhesive bandages.

The generic Japanese word for delivery service is actually Takuhaibin.

The original title was inherited from the novel, but the novel mistakenly used the trademark in its title.

In Hades, we explore Greek mythology by travelling through different biomes and fighting various bosses. Zagreus would fight and defeat them in the following order:

  1. In Tartarus: one of the Fury Sister, Megaera (or even all 3 of them at high heat)
  2. In Asphodel: the Bone Hydra
  3. In Elysium: Theseus, the former king of Athens, and Asterius, the Minotaur
  4. In Temple of Styx: Ceberus, the three headed hell hound
  5. On the "Surface": Hades, the god of the Underworld

spoilerUm actually ... you do not need to fight Ceberus in the Temple of Styx. Zagreus is tasked to retrieve a Satyr Sack to placate the hound to let him through.

In Super Mario World, we introduced to Yoshi, a rideable companion of the Mario brothers, available in various colours. While green Yoshi can only spit out the shells it ate, other coloured Yoshi's gain special abilities when consuming shells. Red Yoshi's spit out fireballs instead of the shell, blue Yoshi's gain the ability to fly while having the shell in its mouth and yellow Yoshi's can stomp the ground to create sand clouds which defeats enemies, also while having a shell in its mouth.

spoilerUm actually ... Green Yoshi's (and all Yoshi's in general) are able to obtain all the abilities above, but they need to eat shells of that colour.

In the Smash series, Pokeballs are one of the many items that can be utilized in the fight. After they are thrown, a Pokemon would emerge from the ball and perform its moves.

The list includes:

  • Staryu using Swift
  • Clefairy with Metronome
  • Mew with Fly
  • Magikarp with Splash
  • Ho-oh with Sacred Fire
  • Porygon with Tackle

spoilerUm, actually ... Magikarp is not a Pokemon that can appear from a Pokeball (as of Smash Ultimate). It is Goldeen which appears and uses splash.

The movie explores Puss's fear of death and finally overcoming it. To illustrate this, the movie personifies Death. We first see Death after Puss goes down to his ninth life, and proceeds to relaxes at the bar. Death is shown to be a wolf wearing a dark hood, who approached Puss with his sinister whistle. During this encounter, Death completely defeated Puss using his two sickles, causing Puss to flee in fear.

spoilerUm actually ... that isn't the first time we see Death. We see him in the cheering crowd as a cameo right after Puss defeats the giant. This references Death's quote that he is there for each of Puss's deaths.

After a botched water tank trick, Angier's and Borden became bitter enemies. The two began one-upping each other with their magic tricks. The story ultimately surrounding the trick, "The Transported Man", initially introduced by Borden, in which the performer appears in two wardrobes on opposite ends of the stage. Angier implemented his own version by using a body double at first, and later improved it by using the teleporting machine which he comissioned Nikola Tesla to invent. It was later revealed that Borden's trick was much simpler, using his twin brother.

spoilerUm actually ... The machine is not a teleporting machine. It is cloning machine, and the trick amounts to Angier killing (either himself or his clone) after appearing on the other side.

The Violet Evergarden follows the story of a post-war child soldier Violet trying to become an Auto Memory Doll, a ghostwriter for illiterate clients. Violet attends the Auto Memory Doll Training School in order to become a true doll. However, she initially failed the test because she lost both her arms in the war, causing her to struggle using her mechanical prosthetic arms to type using a typewriter. She ultimately succeeds after support and help from her fellow doll trainee, Luculia.

CorrectionUm actually ... Violet doesn't struggle with the typewriter. She was very adept at the typing, but was unable to reflect the client's feelings in her writing, due to her inability to fully understand emotions. And that is the also the reason she failed initially

  • Tomoe, a first year student who traps Sakuta in a time loop
  • Nodoka, the younger sister of Mai who swapped bodies with Mai

CorrectionUm actually ... The light novel series is called Rascal Does Not Dream. This is because each of the events as highlighted are different volumes, but have different titles.

The list are as follows:

  • Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
  • Rascal Does Not Dream of Petite Devil Kohai
  • Rascal Does Not Dream of Logical Witch

In A Certain Scientific Railgun, we follow Mikasa, a level 5 esper who controls electricity. Together with Kuroko, a Level 4 teleporting esper, they attend the prestigious Tokiwadai Middle School. Despite being one of the strongest in Academy City, she is acquainted with quite a few level 0 characters. These includes Ruiko and Uihara in her clique, and Touma as a love interest.

CorrectionUm actually ... Uihara is actually a level 1. Her ability preserves the temperature of the object in her hands, which she used to keep a box of taiyaki's warm.
