A community for sharing and discussing longer, more thoughtful, perhaps more provocative and idea-heavy articles about politics, culture, and related issues.

There are already many spaces for sharing news about what is going on in the world - what is needed is also a more reflective space to take a step back and think more deeply and more critically about our political lives. This community hopes to be that space.

Articles which challenge and critique progressive and conservative values are expressly permitted as long as the article makes its case in a serious and considered way. If you disagree with their argument, feel free to explain why in the comments!

This is an exploration of the Supreme Court decisions underlining its affirmation of the war on drugs and modern mass incarceration. I made this, and drew heavily on the book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander, which I heartily recommend for anyone interested in learning more about the legal background and historical context of this issue.
