I'm super happy to finally announce this properly!

I have set up a new account to update folks in the Animal Crossing universe as a companion to Splatoon Unofficial. I'm mainly doing this for two reasons: I love Animal Crossing (I own every game in the series apart from the GameCube version) and Animal Crossing has close ties to Splatoon (if you're unaware, some Animal Crossing developers work on Splatoon).

It's great to have finally launched this ngl.

Ok, ok. I get we're a bit behind on this. Can you really blame us though? We haven't published anything on Substack since Splatoween Half-time!

Anyways, we're leaving Substack. Our posts won't be deleted from there, but I will not be making any new posts there. We're doing this for a combination of inactivity on the platform and the fact that Substack is platforming some publications that you all may consider to be unpleasant.

Community / Friend Code Exchange: Exchange your Wii U and 3DS NNID/FCs here

As we are slowly moving closer and closer to online services being withdrawn for the #WiiU and #3DS, I want to make a post allowing you to exchange your friend codes (you could include @pretendo ones if you want) and contact information so you can play #Splatoon1 (or perhaps another game) online before the servers are shut down.

I'm planning to host some events for a few Wii U and 3DS games on our Matrix space, but it depends on how much demand we get.

For the longest time, posts with a content warning that we make, particularly those for Splatfests were not visible but now they seem to be?

I'm just wondering when this started happening since I've only noticed this just now and it's a bit of a concern for me. I'm not sure what clients are used for Lemmy but I'm concerned that the clients may show contents of the message despite showing an NSFW tag on Lemmy (obviously we're not posting any porn). The whole purpose behind us using content warnings for stuff like this is to not spoil people.

News / Game Releases: Splatoon 2 has been reported going out of stock at multiple US retailers

I can't deal with all these categories....

A selected bunch of Nintendo Switch games have been reported going out of stock at various US retailers. It is rumoured that Nintendo may be preparing for a revival of Nintendo Selects or a launch of new hardware. One of those games include Splatoon 2.

We don't know what this actually means yet, but I'll update you all when we know.

News / Smash Bros: Deep Cut spirits coming soon to Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Deep Cut are arriving as a spirit for a limited time only in #SuperSmashBrosUltimate this Friday (12/01) from 6am GMT to next Wednesday at 6am GMT (17/01) in an online event. They appear alongside Rauru from #TheLegendOfZelda, Noah & Mio from #XenobladeChronicles3 and Oatchi from #Pikmin4.

Based on my current information, I don't think an update is required to get these spirits to appear during the time period, but the game is due for an update soon to add support for Sora's Amiibo which releases on the 16th of February. Do people intentionally disconnect mid battle?

I've seen a ton of DCs, both early in the game and late.

It really hurts my enjoyment of the game. Like, even if we're getting smoked, I'd rather stick around and work as a team to the end. I mean, it's only a couple minutes. And a DC counts as a loss anyway.

It's really frustrating to see all of these DCs. Are people really rage quitting, or is it just bad networking?

Edit: I just got Splatoon 3 for Christmas, but I'm a veteran of the series. Rage quitting did not seem to be as big of a problem in the previous two games.

News / Nintendo Network: New accounts should now be able to play games online again

If you followed a post that I reported on recently, you might know that people unboxing a Wii U on Christmas Day (perhaps with #Splatoon1), would be unable to play online if they're making a new account.

This was an unintentional error on Nintendo's end and it has now been resolved.

Other issues relating to connecting online in the game #SuperMarioMaker have been resolved too, but there are still various different unsolved issues which causes problems playing online in certain games (one of which is another issue for SMM with connecting to certain servers).
