• This year’s national-level Malaysia Day celebrations will be held at Unity Stadium, Kuching Sarawak on the evening of September 16, its publicity and media committee announced today.
• This year’s festivities will kick off with a preshow event at 7.00 pm and will officially start at 8.30pm with the arrival of acting Yang Dipertua Negeri Sarawak Tan Sri Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, along with other guests, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg and wife Puan Sri Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, as well as Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and wife Datin Seri Juliah Salang.
• While the Malaysia Day theme remains the same with that of National Day — “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan” — the Iban phrase “Segulai Sejalai” or “Walking hand-in-hand” will be the slogan of the celebration and represent the unity and strong spirit of cooperation between the many peoples of the country that forms the core in realising the hope of Malaysia Madani, the committee stated.
• The celebrations will be broadcast live by RTM and continued broadcasts will be available on all major stations, including TV3, Astro AWANI, TV AlHijrah, BERNAMA TV, TV Sarawak (TVS) and SUKE TV.

I keep hearing about this fund but have yet to get around to looking it up. Maybe this will be useful to some fellow Sarawakian nyets.

• The state Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister said Sarawak had already recorded 2.27 million visitors from January to July this year, a huge increase compared with 703,891 in the same period last year.
• "By December, looking at the rate of events and activities that are happening, we can reach four million arrivals," he told reporters after launching the What About Kuching (WAK) Festival's call for proposals here on Tuesday (Aug 15).
• Abdul Karim said events such as the WAK Festival, slated to take place throughout October, would help bring in more visitors.
• He said the festival had grown from a small event in 2017 to having 181 events with 59 collaborators under its umbrella last year.
• "This is a home-grown event that provides an avenue for our youths to showcase their talents in theatre, dance and other fields.

• Sarawak has been chosen to host the national-level Malaysia Day 2023 celebration at the Perpaduan Stadium here on September 16.
• Among the performances scheduled for the day are a special musical titled Segulai, Sejalai as well as shows featuring Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

Kuching had almost recorded an unhealthy air quality at 11am today [31 July] with a reading of 100 before plummeting to 99 at noon.

The readings have improved since then.

It will travel 3516 km over 56 days across all 12 divisions of Sarawak (source). Last paragraph of article probably left out a digit for km travelled so far.

Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, located on the island of Borneo, will once again host this exciting 3-day event where the best in the film industry gather to celebrate, honour and recognise excellence among their peers.

AIFFA will present a whole range of film activities from the ASEAN region leading to the highlight of the celebrations where the 2023 award winners will be announced. Do expect celebrities and great films that have gone beyond ASEAN to win international awards.

“The projects included are RM30 million for farm roads, RM10 million to build cow and goat sheds, pig sties and chicken coops, and a RM18-million collection, processing and packaging centre (CPPC) near Bebuling STOLport (short take-off and landing airport),” he said in his speech for the ‘Gawai Dayak Ngiling Tikai’ event in Betong recently.

There would also be the RM2-million ‘Taman Selera’ (food court) projects near the new Spaoh Market and the construction of a futsal field costing RM450,000, he added.
