Some potential XP rate changes around rituals and random events in the future. Beyond that, it looks like the skill and combat changes are starting to stabilise with only smaller tweaks here and there.

Many of the earlier announced patches waiting for a patch slot have made the cut.

Looks like a good amount of improvements are in the pipeline. Especially the Super Necromancy Potion ingredients changing to Congealed Blood and Spirit Weed looks to be a welcome change. Also a bunch of improvements to ritual random events.

Plenty of Quality of Life updates for Necromancy along with bug fixes.

Those who already completed some of the City of Um area tasks may be able to claim another XP lamp as they can now be used on Necromancy too.

Public change tracker based on community feedback. Looks like a few QOL patches are on the way as well.

I clearly missed the lv30 alterations glyphs unlock, so the planned pop-up is definitely appreciated.

July 2023 -

Going forwards, I'm going to start keeping track of the progress as the month goes on, because usually lots of cool things get discussed in the Discord but is hard to find at the end of the month. But regardless, here's a quick highlight looking back:

Darkan.org - 2012 Remake

Darkan is the oldest remake on this list - It's been developed for years by a veteran RSPS owner, with authentic dungeoneering support, multiple near-maxed players (on 1x exp rate), and more.

  • 38 new bug fixes/features
  • The first OSRS player to max is now active in Darkan's Discord

2011scape.com - 2011 Remake

2011scape is a newer remake, so lots of the core and huge changes are always being done.

2009scape.org - 2009 Remake

With developers from 2004scape and OpenRSC, as well as dozens of contributors, 2009scape has an active playerbase and tons of content.

  • Huge release coming up next weekend, details will be in next month's recap
  • HD Support for mobile has started development, you can read the developer's blog here

2004scape.org - 2004 Remake

2004scape breaks records in RS reverse engineering. It's the first with a real 2004 cache, has the most advanced RuneScript, and a webclient. It is the only one on this list that does not yet have a playable live server.

OpenRSC - 2003 & 2001 Remake

OpenRSC is fully complete. It supports mobile, web, botting, and always has 20+ online their bot-free worlds.

  • API changes for better website/2009scape integration
  • IdleRSC, a popular bot client, has migrated to a new maintainer on Github, and seen various improvements

Cows be getting a casual 733% hp buff! On a more serious note: Combat experience rework to be closer to OSRS style at 50xp per 1000hp. Necromancy combat looks to be quite differently set up than the current ones to enable a more rewarding non-revolution combat play style.

Hype train arriving soon!

DXP starting on Friday and 10 minute logout timers for Jagex account users.

2004scape is an open source remake that uses the original Runescript that Jagex created! It also runs in the browser, as originally intended.

From the lead developer Pazaz:

okay- 2004scape can now open doors lol! I just added the first version of a proper zone system earlier so we can use loc_add, loc_del, obj_add, and obj_del from scripts. Updated our mining script to handle respawning rocks first, and added some door triggers in the major cities.

Content is full steam ahead, WIP, so check in again soon 🙂 I have NPC hunt modes and NPC modes to implement still, and their random walk + moverestrict + blockwalk flags sever side pf / collision is done using a ported version of rsmod2's pathfinder

Obviously it's very far from playable, but still super dope to see. 2004scape's Discord shows their progress: https://discord.gg/hN3tHUmZEN
