Seems to me there was no reason for the Biden administration, the DNC, and the Harris campaign to continue supporting Isreal. They lost millions of votes on that decision alone.

I just sent this to Biden & Harris via the White House contact page https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/. I share in case you would like to add your voice and may find it helpful to have a pre-existing template to use or edit. Please feel free to share with others as you see fit.

Best, Atelopus-zeteki

I would like to add my voice in the call for a recount of the 2024 presidential election. I would also like to ask that you conduct a full investigation into tampering, interference, and fraud for this election.

· 32 bomb threats were called into democratic leaning polling places in swing states, causing them to be closed for extended periods of time on Election Day.

· At least one bomb threat was called into a vote counting center.

· Polling locations were closed while voters were still in line to vote.

· Multiple Ballot drop boxes were set on fire, in democratic leaning areas, losing thousands of ballots.

· Many voters reported not receiving mail in ballots, while districts apparently had not sent thousands of them.

· Hundreds of people in swing states are reporting that their votes have not been counted or even have never been received, though they were dropped off/mailed on time

· Some voters also reported instances of their outgoing mail not being picked up after placing their ballot in their mailbox.

· Voters also reported having their ballots invalidated for reasons such as invalid signatures, and given no chance to fix it.

We cannot allow election interference. Please order a recount as soon as possible.

The American people do not trust the results of this election. The people are concerned that there is outside interference – from foreign governments and from private corporations at least – in our election. We are concerned that this was not a free and fair election. We are concerned that we are being lied to and a dictator is trying to take over our government. I am begging you to do everything in your power to stop this from taking place. Thank you very much for your time and attention to this matter.

I want people to remember this one because we've heard this rhetoric over and over. That if people only didn't vote for 3rd parties everything would be better.

Well that happened. And Democrats still shit the bed.

What's the solution? Can Democrats even be salvaged at this point? No clue. But I want the record to be clear for the next election when they bring this excuse out again.

Either Democrats actually become leftists or we get a party that will.

A vote for Jill Stein, Cornel West, Oliver Chase, or not voting, is a vote for Trump. Palestinian lives don't matter to Trump, nor do they really matter to Harris; however in general, Harris will be better for Americans than Trump, so vote for Harris.

A vote for Jill Stein, Cornel West, Oliver Chase, or not voting, is a vote for Trump.

Just as a vote for Nader was a vote for Bush.

Imagine if Nader didn't run. Imagine there was no Green Party candidate for US President.

Gore would have probably won, and America would have been the better for it. Probably no Iraq war, maybe not even a 911. As a result Iran probably wouldn't be as strong, and Putin probably would have less to legitimately oppose about the US, and would himself be seen as less legitimate—indeed Ukraine might still be whole today.

A new Green deal would probably be in full swing.

Granted, Harris doesn't really care about Palestinians, and some elements of the Democratic party care even less; but Trump cares even less than Harris, and what he will do to the US will be worse.

So while Israel massacres civilians and steals more land, at least under Harris American women would still more easily get abortions, we will have fewer TGs committing suicide (maybe), and health care will be a little more universal.

Also with the 100% tariff on Chinese EVs, the Big 3 will be able to better produce good inexpensive cars (as they've been at least somewhat intending these past several decades), and fascism will have less of a hold on the US.

Therefore: vote for Harris.

If you are a progressive: vote for Harris.

If you are an environmentalist: vote for Harris.

If you are a libertarian: vote for Harris.

If you support voting reforms such as proportional representation, rank balloting, the abolition of the Electoral College, and/or more political diversity: vote for Harris.

If you are nauseated at the idea of voting for Harris: take a barf bag with you while you vote for Harris.

If you are a Palestinian-American who has a relative who was injured, maimed, or even murdered, in Gaza, you should still vote for Harris, because again, Trump doesn't care about them either, but at least you, as an American citizen, will get a better deal Harris than under Trump.

(I'm not entirely sure if I agree with all the above, but I find it hard to refute.)

On food tariffs and labor (self.politicaldiscussions)

Trump is promising to put a 10% tariff on all imported goods. Basically a tax on anything not made in America. This would include all food products too. Like tomatoes, other berries and crap tonnes of wheat that are increasingly flown into the country.

He also wants to do a mass deportation. Let's ignore the whole "papers please" aspect of this that would result in actual citizens getting deported because they forgot their ID at home.

Let's focus on what it means when a large amount of our food is grown overseas and that without this illegal work force that picks our food and cooks it for us is suddenly removed from the country. Napoleon said an army travels on its belly. Well so does a nation.*

What happens to food prices when they go up 10% overnight and then food is left to rot in the field? And then what food is available isn't available in the ready to eat pickup, dine-in and delivery forms that people are used to and only a small portion of the population actually knows how to cook things that don't come in a box or plastic bag?

Food costs will skyrocket. Not 10% but by orders of magnitude. It would take two years minimum for farms and food places to staff, plant, harvest and retool to correct for this assuming they even found it worthwhile to do. The profits would be insane. And once they corrected you can guarantee that it would be at least a decade before competition actually brought prices back down.

It's not enough to hear an idea and feel good or bad about it. You need to think about the secondary and third level effects. To see how it effects other things and what the results would be. If you hear an idea, I can't think of one way that it would go bad then you haven't thought about it enough.

  • I used this idea for a post in 2011 but it was in French and no one reacted to it so I get to reuse the idea here.
