Hello! I'm looking for a plugin or something to turn this

into something similar to this:

(this app is quillpad, but other apps like samsung notes have this too) is this possible?

I'm in the process of changing my note taking from Standard Notes to Obsidian, and I am trying to figure out how I can sync notes between my laptop and Android device with the notes encrypted. I thought I had the solution by encrypting with Cryptomator and syncing the encrypted vault with Syncthing. But I realized that Cryptomator on Android does not work by mounting a new drive like it does on Linux, so Obisidian could not access the unencrypted files. So now I am not sure where to go from here.

My requirements:

  • Notes are synced both ways between laptop and phone
  • Notes are encrypted at rest
  • No usage of external cloud services

How do you go about syncing?

I have very little to complain about #Obsidian. It's a truly remarkable app!

One thing I wish it could do is to automatically rename links when their name is changed *outside of the app*. I realise this probably isn't possible, but it'd be nice if it was.

I use the auto link renamer plugin, and it works well, but sometimes I like to bulk rename files in the Finder, and this breaks all the links associated with them.

Unless there's a way to bulk rename files *inside* Obsidian?

I just want to report an issue I had and the solution. Obsidian was only telling me my username or password were wrong, but actually my office network's proxy was blocking the connection.

I excluded "*.obsidian.md" from my proxy settings and it works now.

I am using @obsidianmd local so no synchronization. But if I would decide to enable synchronization hosted by the wonderful people of #obsidianMD, the price is keeping me away. 8$ is not appropriate. Way to much.

I love Obsidian and the people behind, but not their pricing policy.

I recently started using Obsidian and have slowly been working it into my daily workflow.

One thing I’d like to be able to do is to use the iOS share sheet to send a URL to Obsidian with the ability to choose where it goes and make a note about it so I can keep track of bookmarks for various projects.

Is there any way to do this inside Obsidian or using iOS shortcuts with Obisdian?

Thanks!

I would like to help this Obsidian Community/Magazine to become more active as it seems like people like looking at posts from it but not many people create posts. What's your favourite thing about the Obsidian community?

I wanted to restart my Obsidian Vault as it was getting to messed up as I never ordered anything. Finally started doing a Folder system so hopefully this helps in the long run.

Looked at some posts of the Reddit and found this one, thought it was funny so reposting.

Also posted to !pkms.

This is absolutely gorgeous. I take academic notes in Obsidian and am going to take several cues from this professor’s notes.

I may have also been trying to make a similar thing for math in general, including discrete mathematics. The professor’s turned out prettier than my own. Still going to make my own, taking/making the notes myself will reinforce these topics, but this is definitely a handy reference.

What do you write about on Obsidian?

Wow, that's a game changer!

I am researching a few topics, like AI and work from home, and I am trying to figure out what system would be best. E.g., I may find some news articles, or journal papers, or reports, and so on, on a topic I am interested in. One option would be to create a note with the topic name, say "AI, and then just put the links into the note, maybe separating them with headers. Would it work or is there a better way? I was also thinking about a kanban board, but not sure if it is worth the trouble. Anyway, I would appreciate your tips!

Are there any #PlainText or #Markdown apps that can list the full names of files, on multiple lines, on a narrow screen? Landscape orientation helps, but it is not the solution I’m looking for.

#Obsidian Is the only one I’ve found so far that can do this.

All I want is to be able to browse the full text of long file names, in a list, in an app that doesn’t take 5 minutes to start up (I’m using iCloud for syncing Obsidian).

Anyone want to write me some #CSS to make the traditional writer's reminder of missing information, TK, show up prominently in #Obsidian wherever it occurs within a long text?

I'm thinking sans serif bold small caps, nicely letter spaced, maybe in light orange. Like Medium does it. Doesn't have to be offset to the side, just a nice visual blip to catch one's attention in the flow of the text.

New to obsidian.

I'm trying to set up my daily journal to have a task list at the top, and then an unfinished task list below.

How do I get my unfinished task list to only show tasks that are less than the current day?

This is what I have so far:

dataview
task

from "Daily Notes"

WHERE !completed AND text != ""

Does anyone have a good setup/configuration for converting documents to Obsidian-flavored markdown with Pandoc? I’ve been fiddling with it for a few hours but can’t seem to get everything right:

  • Obsidian markdown doesn’t support ^superscript^. I can get Pandoc to use sup instead by allowing raw_html, but then…
  • Image embeds don’t work. Pandoc wants to use img for some reason, and no matter what relative src I use the image just won’t show up.

I could fix all of this by running the files through a linter of some sort, but I feel like I’m missing something. Surely someone must have had these issues before me, right?

I recently published several articles here and elsewhere on using Obsidian’s native database functionality to increase focus and efficiency when working with the information in our vaults. Rather than using Obsidian as a souped-up word processor, we can abandon the file paradigm altogether and use Bookmark and Canvas for accessing, editing, analyzing and organizing our information.

Given the interest that the articles have generated, and the fact that the concepts may be unfamiliar to some, I thought it would be helpful to make a video demonstrating how it works in practice. It ended up being somewhat long, so this is the second part.

If you haven’t read the articles, this may be confusing as I don’t go into depth on the concepts. This isn’t really a how-to video, so it assumes you know your way around Obsidian.

This is the last in a series of articles, including Freeing Your Thinking and Building a Knowledge Tree, where I talk about using Obsidian as a non-relational database. The main idea is to interact with information, not files, and Obsidian's core plugins facilitate this approach. I have talked about Search, Bookmarks, Unique Notes and Graph View. This article will describe how to use Canvas to create visual maps of content which not only present information in a clear, attractive and flexible way, but also allow you to explore and interact with your information. As usual, our goal is to obviate the need to open files.

In data science there is a motto "visualize, visualize, visualize." In the business world, information is commonly presented in the form of a dashboard to allow for visualizing data. A dashboard is a graphical user interface containing views of information. Aside from providing graphical elements and views, a dashboard will typically provide navigational tools and other ways to interact with information and even edit information directly from the dashboard.

Finally seriously looking at #Obsidian Sync.

Where should I store my vault on my #Mac? I feel so lost! For years × ∞ I've put everything in Dropbox or iCloud, but that, I hear, is a recipe for sync troubles.

* looks at computer as if for the first time, confused expression on previously confident face *

Why is my Documents folder greyed out? Where am I? *Who* am I ?? Help me, obi-@obsidianmd, you're my only hope!

Does anyone have a good template for lab notes in Obsidian?

So far I only found this discussion here: https://forum.obsidian.md/t/laboratory-notebook-integrated-task-management-system-for-bench-scientists/45338
I'd appreciate any tips or tricks!

@obsidianmd @obsidian what is the latest on the WebP bug?

Bookmarks are the key to effectively using Obsidian as a non-relational database. The virtues of approaching your notes this way are several, and I covered some in Freeing Your Thinking. In this article, I explore using Bookmarks to construct flexible, interactive Knowledge Trees to organize the information in your vault (not the files).

The article describes a system consisting of three domains: Living, Learning and Creating. The tree is built entirely on bookmarks, and consists primarily of views (saved filters/queries) of my data organized in nested groups.
