No Man's Sky

Obligatory notice: I play on Nintendo Switch. Now that I can do Nexus missions and earn quicksilver, are there recommendations on what I should work towards? I like that for most of the items I have to spend several days to get enough banked to buy stuff, but it makes me hyper-aware that I should be wise about it.

Like I already got the egg to get a living ship (love it!) and the -null- bobblehead because better shields seems like a nice thing to do for my ship, but what now? do I get more exhaust trails? Do I get more bobbleheads? What about the other backpack, I'm getting real tired looking at the default one.

I'd be very curious to hear about what order people picked things up in, or what made them make the choices they did. Anyone feel like sharing their preferred buys?

Basically the /r/No_Mans_sky of Lemmy is going to go here. I have high hopes for the current community, but if you're feeling too much Big Brother at anytime, I have prepared an alternative.

When updating steam I saw that NMS was released for mac so I bought it & spent an enjoyable few hours in it so far. Is there an uptodate good newbie guide somewhere?

So I've bought the emergency beacon thing from the scrap dealer, found the derelict freighter during a pulse drive, and boarded. Used the terminal, snagged the emergency supplies, and then unsealed the door. Alarm sounds, temperature drops, i walk up to the door and... nothing?

I see a counter that says something like "access requested: further authentication required" and it just counts up seemingly without end. Nothing to interact with on the door itself, scanning with the visor just shows a door icon that i can tag but nothing else.

I've tried quitting and reloading multiple times, and warping to different systems, with the same result.

M1 MacBook playing the steam version, fully updated.

I've seen a couple similar questions on steam forums with no answer, and I've submitted a help request through Zendesk, just wondering if anyone here has any ideas? Thanks!

I'm having some performance issues with NMS on a high end pc, and I'm wondering if you guys can help.
I've been noticing that the 99% fps lags quite a bit behind the average fps, which causes stuttering. Seen it sometimes dip below 20fps, usually at 35 or 40.
I'm running the game with all settings maxed out, though it doesn't seem like the game is using my pc resources. 30% cpu usage, and 50-60% gpu. Lowering my settings to medium creates a negligible fps impact (~5 fps)
Are there any game config files i can play with to improve this?

Singularity Patch 4.34 has brought my install from comfortably doing 100+ fps down to 6-7fps.

Tried a number of Proton versions, lowered graphics settings down to the minimum, different launch arguments, no luck.

@nomanssky Has anyone had success using the Quest 2 joystick while flying in VR. I strongly dislike the virtual stick. Thanks!
