Saw this on some other social media. I doubt there's any actual truth to this "rumor" but I was just curious to see what Lemmy thinks about Vanessa Kirby as a fantasy cast for Sue Storm. I love her in most roles but she just doesn't feel quite right to me. Can't really put my finger on why though.

Main points:

  • the premise of the show came out of nowhere, Scrulls were set up as the good guys in Captain Marvel
  • the small rooms and few characters reduced the perceived gravity of the situation
  • Giah's dilemma between her father and Graviks revolution was skipped over
  • there was no 'secret' to the show, the viewers were ~~omnipotent~~ omniscient; the plot was rushed and everything that could have been an exciting reveal has been wasted
  • we learn nothing about the president, his actions make no sense

Hey guys. First, just want to say thanks for taking part in this community and, for me especially, the discussion threads. I love to read everyone's thoughts about the series episodes. Secondly, now that we have our mod team better organized and on the same page, we wanted to get the communities input on what rules and guidelines you would like to have. Right now it's a standard set to fit most any community but we want to make sure we are also addressing things that are unique to MarvelStudios as well. So please, hit this thread up with suggestions, thoughts, whatever you think will make this community better. Also if you have any thoughts about things that need to go into the sidebar, feel free to add those as well. Thanks everyone!

There is no way Disney sells marvel right ? Disney definitely sells or cuts other assets before they resort to that in my opinion. Personally I also feel like Disney is try to correct the issue before they sell. Last I hope Apple doesn't buy Disney I don't want either of these monopolies getting any bigger.

World class actors, a writer from Mr Robot being a showrunner, unlimited budget for stunts and action scenes

But I'm not enjoying it, it started out promising, abit of a slow burn but isn't going anywhere or as epic as it should be.

The main villain Gravis is a bit of a joke, he isn't scary, menacing or emphathetic. There isn't time to build chemistry between Talos and Gaiah. Fury doesn't seem to know what he's doing, just reacting to events, just same vague idea of stop the Skrulls.

There isn't any suspense to who is or isn't a Skrull, no paranoia which was basically the entirety of Mr Robot.

The Skrulls also haven't really succeeded in much, the first bombing resulted in a boring hearing where the Skrulls grilled another Skrull.

They kinda threw away a surprise Skrull reveal very early on. Where Martin Freeman, someone who never interacted with Fury is a Skrull and gets killed off and doesn't affect the plot. But Maria Hill who's been with Fury since the first movie isn't a Skrull but is killed off for some reason. It would have been super cliche, but also built on the sense of paranoia that Fury didn't know how long Hill had been a Skrull over the years. Now Fury's only ally is already a Skrull. There's no suspense at all, no Among Us, who's the imposter

When it was just the writers strike they had to keep going forward but no one was allowed to write gags or improvise gags. Now that the actors are striking the whole production can't go forward.

There's a high chance that the two strikes will end together and production will continue without any limitations. We might have the film delayed but I'd rather wait a bit longer for a better film.
