TL:DR

Despite the hysteria surrounding trans people and bathrooms, several studies have found that nondiscrimination laws that protect trans people's right to use public facilities in accordance with their gender identity don't lead to an increase in sexual assaults. School officials, experts on sexual assault prevention and police departments all agree that protecting trans people poses no threat to cis women and girls.

By contrast, a large number of trans people, including kids, report experiencing harassment, humiliation or even violence when using a public restroom, along with other problems due to fear of harassment.

Trans youth who had restricted access to restroom/locker rooms were at higher risk of sexual assault, and they were no more likely to commit sexual violence. States that ban trans kids from using facilities consistent with their gender identity reported the same rate of sexual violence as states that didn't have such bans.

I like to listen to anticapitalist and socialist videos while at work, this was the gem of the week. This video is a speech from Parenti turned into a visual documentary

Since purchasing and consuming animal products both depends on and contributes to animal agriculture, and animal farming necessitates rights violations against nonhuman animals, not being vegan when you have the option is synonymous with support for injustice. I believe that as leftists who purport ourselves to strive towards a more just society, and as human beings who generally value nonviolence and compassion, we should hold ourselves to a standard that doesn't allow for the perpetuation of mass-slaughter. Let's discourse!

I think the age of consent should be mu- lowered, I don't even believe in the concept. You wanna know why? Because marriage is consent. You wanna know what's wrong with sex? Being married means you consent to sex all the time. There's no such thing as marital rape because when you marry a person you have a martial obligation to give your spouse sex whenever they want it. It's literally Catholic doctrine so, you know, the only moral way to have sex is within marriage and the only way to get married is to consent to sex on demand - uh - and both partners agree to that, it's their obligation, it's a mortal sin to deny it. So that's- that's- how's that for consent theory? That's my... That's my age of consent- that's not age of consent, that's age of marriage.

"Age of consent". What is this? What is this? Christians have no use for such things. Christians have no use for such a concept - you get married. A Christian... A Christian doesn't have sex with anybody, a Christian has sex with their spouse within marriage, and nobody is getting married at a prepubescent age. People get married when they're at a reproductive age, when they're adolescents... And so th- You know, I'm just redefining it.

According to estimates by Unchained At Last, between 2000 and 2018 almost 300K children were married in the United States. This included some children as young as 10 (p.5):

  1. 10-Year-Olds: 5 (<1%)
  2. 11-Year-Olds: 1 (<1%)
  3. 12-Year-Olds: 14 (<1%)
  4. 13-Year-Olds: 78 (<1%)
  5. 14-Year-Olds: 1,223 (<1%)
  6. 15-Year-Olds: 8,199 (4%)
  7. 16-Year-Olds: 63,956 (29%)
  8. 17-Year-Olds: 148,944 (67%)

As they explain on page 4, some states had missing data, so this is likely an underestimation.

This comment hit the nail on the head. I feel like I played right into his hands. But what is a person to do?

remember the real reason he bought Twitter was to influence the 2024 election and stop any kind of leftist organizing on the site

Before I had ever seen this video, I was struggling to conceptualize a post-money society. I feel like a library economy is a fantastic solution to a lot of problems that exist in our modern society. Before folks comment without watching, a library economy doesn't exclude ownership of personal property, but instead creates a post-scarcity option to use something without needing it to be commoditized or incentivizing the hoarding of useful objects

To help us understand the failures of liberal democracy, We ask Slavoj Zizek to provide his definition of Dialectics. Zizek tells us why Hegel would have been in permanent intellectual orgasm, had he lived through the 20th Century of "progress" and witnessed the many cases of Dialectics at play. WW1, WW2, South African Apartheid, the October Revolution, the Civil Rights movement, the opium war, and so on.

Through his analysis, we gain insight on how liberal democratic ideology reproduces itself under capitalism, and all the violence it entails.

Check it out and let us know what you think.

One of my favorite videos from this channel. How imperialism and unequal exchange is creating a humanitarian crisis while also fuelling climate change.
