Lilia B. Cuntapay (September 16, 1935 – August 20, 2016) was a Filipina actress and former teacher. She is popularly recognized as the "Queen of Philippine Horror Movies" for her subsequent appearances in horror movies and exceptional contributions to Philippine film industry.

On August 5, 2016, it was confirmed that Cuntapay suffered from a spinal cord illness and that she was unable to walk. She sought help from her friends and colleagues in the film industry to be able to raise money for her treatment. On August 20, at about 6 a.m, Cuntapay died in her son's home at Barangay Tartarabang in Pinili, Ilocos Norte; she was 80.

Janno Ronaldo Ilagan Gibbs (born September 16, 1969) is a Filipino singer, songwriter, comedian and actor.

Gibbs started out in 1986 as one of the members of the teen variety show That's Entertainment on GMA Network. Gibbs then played some minor film roles for Viva Films. He was co-host of the TV show "Small Brothers" in 1990. Gibbs is also known as "Late", "Mokong" and "Philippine's King of Soul".

“One of the biggest they have seen,” he added. He has ben experiencing “shortness of breath, fatigue, and difficulty in swallowing” since April 2023.

In October 2023, Ong said that he started to experience back pain. “Worst pain of my life. Ten out of ten. You will cry. I was just weeping in pain all night. Like a knife stabbing you in the back,” he said.

MANILA, Philippines – Eraserheads officially kicked off Season 87 of the UAAP at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, September 7. The OPM band treated the opening ceremony’s crowd to a performance of their most iconic songs.

Eraserheads members Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Raymund Marasigan, and Marcus Adoro are alums of season host University of the Philippines (UP). Fresh off their acceptance of the UP Gawad Oblation Medal — the university’s highest honor — it was only right that the “Ang Huling El Bimbo” hitmakers take the big dome stage to formally open the new UAAP season.

Senator Risa Hontiveros said on Thursday that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo should not be treated like a celebrity after some government workers had photos with her. (A reminder to all government officers: Alice Guo is a fugitive. She is charged for human trafficking. She’s not a celebrity.)

In a photo shared by Senator Joel Villanueva earlier, a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officer was taking a selfie with Guo and Abalos during the turnover. Meanwhile, in the viral group photo, Guo was seen smiling while in the company of some NBI and Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents while she was being escorted to Indonesian immigration before her return to Manila on early Friday.

The officials were criticized and the photo became a target of jokes online, as some netizens were quick to call out that the former public official is the subject of various charges. Villanueva earlier called out these government agents for their “unprofessional” actions.

📰 Gov’t urged to consider US escort for PH resupply missions

MANILA, Philippines — Allowing a foreign force to escort Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) or Navy resupply missions in the West Philippine Sea is an option gaining favor from geopolitical and legal experts.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio and Stratbase ADR Institute president Dindo Manhit urged the Marcos administration to start considering this arrangement between the Philippines and its allies, amid the continuing harassment of PCG and other civilian Filipino vessels by the Chinese.

Manhit on Tuesday recommended that Manila “explore escorts to resupply missions” following the series of incidents that saw the China Coast Guard (CCG) ramming PCG vessels without provocation. The latest to be hit by the Chinese was the largest PCG asset, the BRP Teresa Magbanua, in an encounter at Escoda (Sabina) Shoal on Aug. 31.

Asked if such escorting arrangements would further enrage China, Carpio noted that the United States and its other allies in the region had already done similar undertakings. That’s not what happened (Beijing acting with hostility) when US and Australian warships conducted naval drills in the same area at the same time where Malaysia surveyed and drilled for gas in its EEZ (exclusive economic zone). Same with Indonesia. A bully respects someone more powerful than him,” Carpio said.

Lloyd Cafe Cadena (September 23, 1993 – September 4, 2020) was a Filipino vlogger, radio personality, and author. He was one of the most popular YouTubers in his native Philippines, with over 5.86 million subscribers on the platform at the time of his death.

On September 1, 2020, Cadena was hospitalized due to a high fever and dry cough; he later tested positive for COVID-19. He died three days later, on September 4, after suffering a cardiac arrest. His death occurred nineteen days before what would have been his 27th birthday. His remains were later cremated.
