I hate how she's switching between units, but cool picture

As some of you know and are probably tired of hearing about it, I have been dealing with a weird medical condition for over a year now where I have been unable to eat solid food. It's been a mystery to doctors, even to the Mayo Clinic, but we keep working on ideas.

The most recent theory is that it is something called ARFID, which stands for Avoidant/Restricted Food Intake Disorder. It's an eating disorder, but not one that has to do with any sort of body image issues. It can be induced by trauma and I did have a really traumatic experience involving kidney stones and another mess with the medical system where I ended up lying in an ER bed for 6 hours after lying on a clinic floor for 4 hours before anyone gave me any painkillers about a month before everything started, so the current thinking is that is what triggered the ARFID.

Now, I'm working with an eating disorder clinic. I have a psychiatrist and a nutritionist I'm working with there. I haven't made too much progress yet, but it's early days.

Rant time:

So… the psychiatrist says I’m supposed to find an occupational therapist to deal with the ARFID. She gave me two names. One said they don't actually deal with that sort of condition and the other wasn't taking new patients.

So I've been looking myself calling around for one myself and all of the ones around me say that I need an occupational therapist that works with eating disorders. Cool. I'll search that big interconnected web of computers full of information about everything and find one of those.

And you know what both Google and Bing telling me when I search for occupational therapists who treat eating disorders? They're telling me occupational therapy is helpful for those with eating disorders. Lots of websites talking about how helpful it is! Thanks a whole fucking lot!

There are websites that help you search for occupational therapists. There are websites that help you search for people who treat eating disorders. THERE'S NO FUCKING WEBSITE THAT HELPS YOU SEARCH FOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS THAT TREAT EATING DISORDERS!

I know I'm not in New York or L.A. I'm in Indiana. But Indianapolis isn't exactly a tiny burg and it's only 60-90 minutes away depending on where I'm going. There's lots of doctors, hospitals, etc. There are also several small cities not that far away in both Indiana and Illinois (I'm on the border) including the one I'm in. College towns with big hospitals and lots of medical facilities. So you'd think they'd have someone.

Nope.

The only ones I find that do work with eating issues are pediatric, and I'm guessing they're not too keen on 47-year-olds.

So now I'm expanding the search to see if anyone will do anything via telehealth and hoping that the psychiatrist will respond to my email in a timely manner, but I know she's super busy just based on how far apart the telehealth meetings I'm doing with her are.

I hate this so much!

When I was a kid, I got a record from my brother. I don’t remember if it was an LP or an EP, but it was a comedy record called The Off-Beats in Lo-Fo.

The thing I remember most about it is that they sing the words “George Washington Bridge” over and over again to common circus acrobat music I can’t remember the name of. Not The Man on the Flying Trapeeze.

Anyway, there is absolutely zero record of it on the internet. I have looked before and I looked again today because my daughter was talking to me about lost media. It’s as if it never existed. It's not even listed on sites about lost media. It's certainly not anywhere on Discogs (although there are multiple other listings for other records for groups called Off-Beats or The Off-Beats).

Thankfully, when I asked, my brother confirmed to me that the record did, in fact, exist, because even though I remembered listening to it many times, I was starting to think I imagined the whole thing.

My guess is it was a relatively unknown comedy group that did a tiny record pressing to sell albums at shows. And it was probably terrible.

But I wish I could hear it again anyway.

She waited until the last minute to do laundry yesterday. So when I woke her up this morning, I said to her, “put on some dirty clothes, go to the dryer, get some clean clothes, then go take a shower.” The dryer is in the kitchen pantry and I was making tea, which is why she had to put on dirty clothes.

So first, she just went to the shower and I repeated it again when I heard the shower door open. Then she got her dirty clothes on and came out with her iPad because I guess she thought she was going to have breakfast.

I told her to put down the iPad and get the clean clothes and I said “go take those and get a shower.”

AND SHE STARTED TAKING HER CLOTHES OFF IN FRONT OF ME!

I very quickly said, “no, take the clean clothes to your room, go take a shower, then put the clean clothes on.” She’s taking a shower now, so I hope she figured it out.

She was sort of staggery and grumbly the whole time too. Very little intelligible speech.

If she hasn't and you hear I was killed and my brain was eaten, that's why.

This is borderline shitpost material, but I actually kind of like it so it goes here.

In general, Indiana is deep red.

I drove from the very my home just outside of of the mixed red/blue town of Terre Haute through very red Indiana counties to relatively nearby but not inside the mixed red/blue town of Bloomington (more blue than red there). In both cases, not in the towns, so essentially from Republican territory through Republican territory and ending in Republican territory.

I only saw three Harris signs, which didn't surprise me... but I only saw two Trump signs, one of which I know has been up for months.

Even houses with things like those stupid thin blue line flags on flagpoles didn't have Trump signs.

On top of that, neighbors of mine who I remember having Trump signs the last two times around do not have them this time. I live in a massive subdivision- probably 70 homes- and I have only seen one Trump sign while walking or driving through it.

Make of that what you will.

What's a good community to post things like these?

For the record, I'm a man whose name is not Annie and I don't even like yoga.

They invariably either say, “that’s my favorite” or “have you tried it yet? I keep wanting to.” I’m wondering if management is telling them to do it or something, but I'm not sure how it helps sales if I'm already buying it. It's really weird.

She's absolutely obsessed with dogs, especially our two dogs, especially Charlie, the little one. She could use some encouragement for schoolwork. A friend is giving her daughter temporary tattoos of her cat's face for when she has a bad day at little league and I thought that would be a cool similar thing to reward my daughter with when she gets a good grade. She already likes stickers. Now I'm going to figure out what kind of thing to display the stickers on.

In case you were wondering, StickerApp had an okay deal based on the ones I looked at and I know Sticker Mule has the horrible pro-Trump CEO. I hope I made a good choice.
