Introducing..... Shibayama Railway Line. It has 2 stops and its length is 2.2km.

Luckily, all train are through service to the Keisei line, so we can access the line from the Keisei Narita station.

Higashi-Narita (East Narita) station

The first station is Higashi-Narita station, which originally served as a terminal station of Narita Airport.

You can see it was named Narita Airport station, before the opening of Narita Airport Rapid Railway (type three railway company), which provides new terminals for Narita Airport. Now, it only serves as a station to access nearby infrastructure (Airport Police Station, Cargo Area...etc)

You may still access the station via Narita Airport Terminal 2 station.

Spooky lobby

Ground entrance

Skyliner!

Platform...

Unused platform, which still has a Narita Airport station sign!

Shibayama-Chiyoda Station

A one-sided platform which provides access to JAL, ANA maintaining facilities. It is opened in 2002. Nothing really special about it.....

As you can guess, the line is just an extension to the old (keisei) Narita Airport line. Due to some history, it is not operated by Keisei, but as an independent company (which partly owned by Keisei). For this reason, the line remains as a "shortest independent railway line".

Moreover, they also have their own (and only) train which is leased from Keisei and repainted to green livery. Still, most of the time, you only see Keisei train running on it via through service.

Special note: The line between Higashi-Narita station and Keisei Narita station is called Keisei Higashi-Narita Line, which is 7.1 km long.

In case someone is still confused, here is the route map of the line :)

Above: A brand new Sotetsu 20000 Series train set undergoing trial runs at Shinagawa Station in late 2019.

This is the 10-car variant that was first introduced in 2018, so this would be one of the later sets built. The distinctive paint color is called "Yokohama Navy Blue", which is featured on other Sotetsu trains.

Unfortunately, it was scrapped in 2016 due to maintenance costs.

"The singing train", Keikyu 1000 series is famous for its bright red livery and VVVF.

Train equips with siemens gto has this iconic sound. The bad thing is, they have already been retired 3 years ago.

Moreover, Keikyu is famous for operating in manual, so no ATC, no TASC, no ATO, just pure ATS with skilled driver.

A great choice for tourists to get to Shinagawa, especially with throught service, Access Express.

It is a MSE (Multi Super Express), so it is used in different limited Express route. (Or another word, Romance Car)

Why limited express run by Odakyu is called Romance Car? Well, people say that by taking the train, you can sit next to the stranger, and that is where love bloom (not on the battlefield).

Through service with Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line

Through service with JR :( line to sightsee Mt. Fuji

Limited express go to Hakone Yumoto

And it has mh, pretty romantic?

This was shortly before JR began phasing the E217s out with E235s.

Translated to "Phoenix", the Hinotori is operated by the Kintetsu Railway.

The bright red colour is easily identified

Premium seat

Not so premium seat

Travels from Osaka to Nagoya in 2 hours.

The train offers comfortable journey between Osaka and Nagoya, which is cheaper than the Sinkansen!!! No more JR pass!!(They are so expensive nowaday, and it is quite hard to cover your journey cost unless you travel with JR every time, which just barely cover the cost)

And it also goes to Nara undet 35 minutes.

Oh deer!!

Huh?

From here

Toyama Chihou Railway Tram 7000 series

Quite classic design.

No it's JR Kyushu 885 series, servicing as a limited express between Hakata and Nagasaki, also Hakata and Ōita.

Titling for faster speed on curve rail.

Still not as fast as Keisei Skyliner.

Cozy seat?

Face to face setting to increase awkwardness with strangers.

It may look impressive, but the train is ... well... pretty old. JR train outside metropolis is mostly old.

Additionally, the train is also exported (w/ modification) to Taiwan as TEMU1000 series.

Look like ICE 2.

German high speed train empire...

In Yuru Camp S03e11, this decommissioned trolley is mentioned as being in "Fujisawa Nagasawa Park" but I can't find any references to such a park online.

Does anyone know where this is?

The Abt rail system, developed in Switzerland in the 1880s, is a narrow gauge track that specializes in climbing inclines by using a 3rd track that is toothed.

The Oigawa Railway's Ikawa Line is the only Abt system in Japan.

About halfway between Tokyo and Nagano.

Here's what it looks like in the daytime:

Here's the plaque explaining it, and the cherry blossoms(?)

Can anyone translate the plaque? Japanese OCR seems to be hopeless...

Go to Japan? Play Densha De Go the train simulator in the arcade center!

You get Unreal engine 5 graphic

JR E235/E233 like controller

Point and calling (not shown)

Most importantly, I am an ...

S Ranked driver without any assistance !!

Not in Japan? You may play the ps4/switch version.

This is the Astram line in Hiroshima. It's a Automated Guideway Transit, so it is running on rubber wheel.

Well technically, it's an automated bus...

I like the content in this community a lot and wanted to contribute some.

This is a video collection of all the trains I saw on my trip to Kyushu. Loved every single one of them! but my favorites were:

  • the tilting Sonic 883 with its large windows feels like flying a fighter plane!
  • the new Kamome, which is so lean & simple compared to other Shinkansen sets
  • the Kyushu Odan Tokkyu, not just because of the scenic route it takes round Aso, but also because of the wooden finish of so many sufraces, which feels sort of rustic, even though the cars' interiors are very spacious!

Use subtitles or timestamps in description for train & location names.

In year 2011, earthquake hit the Tohoku of Japan, resulting damage to the line.

After 5 days, 1/3 of the line (which is undamaged) resume operation, marking the begin of reconstruction.

On 2014/4/6, full line operation restored.

Restoration of the line marks the reconstruction of the Tohoku. We may not be able to avoid disaster, but we can still do our best to restore the destroyed.

You get Tobu,

Seibu,

Tokyo Metro,

Tokyu,

And Yokohama Minatomirai Railway running the line. (Though the Minatomirai Line is basically an extension for the Tokyu Toyoko Line)

F-liner provides express service between Yokohama and Tokyo sub center.

F stands for Fast, for around 30 minutes, you can reach Yokohama from Shibuya.

Not to be mixed up with the F train from NYC.

46

Children's drawing on the train.

And sushi

The famous fish market near Nakaminato is the reason why I take the line.

47

Exists in Keihan Keishin Line between Biwako-Hamaōtsu and Kamisakaemachi station.Although it is about 700m long track on the road, it's still a unique sight.

The reason why there is track on road due to the line is used to be a tramline, and later is converted into a underground rail. However, as the terminal is on ground, the rail needed to use its old track near the terminal, creating this unique sight.

48

Operated daily from Tokyo to Izumo, you can take it overnight to travel from Japan East to West location.

Also, it adds a stop in Osaka recently.

Not to be mixed up with JS Izumo, DDH-183

Lesson learnt: Check to ensure I am posting in correct community, as delete post on lemmy is quite buggy. (Which reminds me to point and call before posting)
