Hello! Hoping for some help from the more experienced minds here as I can't quite answer the questions I have by researching.
For some background: My girlfriend and I recently moved into an apartment [in Canada, contextual for pricing and availability]. It's a decent size for a 1 bdrm (690 ft²) and open concept, and the living room has a suitable arrangement for a home theater setup.
We plan to have a record player and a TV setup in the living room and want a speaker setup that can be suitable for both, ideally without breaking the bank. I'm willing to upgrade over time (and as we move around), have done a considerable amount of research in the last few days, and seen a lot of recommendations, but recently had something come up that complicates things a bit.
I was leaning toward getting the Denon AVR-S760H as an AVR, and then initially looking to get the Sony SS-CS5, SA-CS9 & SS-CS8 as a 3.1 setup in the short term and expanding over time. That fits around my price budget (totaled at $1,240.93 CAD after tax).
However, my parents have a full 5.0 setup of Sony DAV-IS10 (old, small, but good 4Ω[?] speakers) that they are willing to give me, but they no longer have a sub or amplifier for them — I listened to these when I was younger and they do a solid job for a small space. These would fit quite well in the size of apartment we have versus full-on bookshelf speakers, and I wouldn't mind taking them up on the offer to defer paying more for my setup until we have more space to expand into.
If I was to do this, would the Denon AVR-S760H amp still be suitable for the Sony DAV-IS10s we would be getting, and are there limitations to the sub I would need to get for it? Any help is appreciated as I can't really find an answer online.
