I'm in the process of switching to sleeping in a hammock full time and the one thing I'll miss about my Dangerbird is the over cover. Does anybody make a sock that'll work well with a Luxury Bridge or have a pattern for sewing one myself if someone has done this?

Thanks!

TL;DR: I want to find and buy like 12 simple (South American?) net hammocks.

When I was a young kid my mother got an assignment requiring us to move to Cartagena, Colombia for a couple of months. I remember us living with a small community of families on the beach. All us kids did was swim, build sand castles, play with giant tortoises, and most importantly HANG OUT.

This was done inside a very simple thatch roof bungalow where maybe 12 hammocks were spaced out in a circle connected to central pole.

We hung out there during the sweltering mid day, or during fantastic stormy nights, or jus about all the time, drawing down a mosquito net around the bungalow for protection when needed.

I have flashbacks to this memory every so often and now that I have a family of my own, and we have a small cabin with enough open space, I hope to recreate this experience, or rather the bungalow for hot summer days and nights (well, as hot as they can get in Scandinavia..)

I am up to doing the “hard work” of building the bungalow, but searching for suitable hammocks has been harder than I thought. -It’s all camping hammocks (which I find fantastic for other reasons) or very expensive bespoke creations.

I hope to find those simple, though beautiful, hammocks I remember being like thick colorful nets. I remember some of them could stretch to easily swallow a handful of small kids, or a couple of grownups, but also be comfortable for a single occupant. Some of them where more meant for one person.

So, I joined this fine subreddit to ask for help in finding suitable hammocks that I could purchase a bunch of without it costing a fortune.

Thanks for sticking all the way through this memory of mine!

Just picked myself a cheaper- experiment hammock to see if I would like it being my nightly sleep choice. Problem is, I don't have access to much in terms of installation.

So far I've tried just taking two screws to each side of the hammock and pinching each robe to the wall. Every time I've tried to put my weight on it, I'll get to about 80% and it will slip off.

Let me state clearly, the screws are not ripping out the wall. I did the knock test to find a stud, and I got one well enough that each screw could not be individually ripped out with my hands. I would also try to pull the rope out.

Is there a decent solution that can keep my hammock up until I can actually go get some equipment? I would really like to be able to sleep on it tonight.

Original Title: World's lightest hammock. Both advantages and disadvantages. It doubles as both a mosquito net and a lounge chair. I have had it for several years and have reviewed it now. So it is well tested. If you are curious see link in comments 😉

I was thinking of setting up my tensa4 frame on a pontoon boat while it is anchored. Does anyone have experience doing this? Any advice? I tried searching Google for info, but nothing came up. Thanks!

I remember looking at a huge (like 25-30 foot) hammock a year or 2 ago but I can't seem to find the seller. Any leads?

TIA

Long story short, I am very nightmare prone. I had my bug net for a couple years (about 8 trips using it), but had a major nightmare the last night of my last trip. In trying to escape in my sleep, I tore the bug net from its ridge line hanging hooks…. And now need a new bug net. Any recommendations (for new bug nets or for hammock sleeping with nightmares)??

I love sleeping in my hammock but it is quite hard for me to fall asleep on my back... does anyone have any suggestions. Does it get better with time.

I believe it is 11 ft but I'm not sure if that is just the cloth part of if it includes like the rope bit at the end. Thanks!

My bed has recently broken, and i've been planning on replacing it with a hammock for a while. Does anyone have any experience with this stand?

I'm renting, so i can't wall mount, and having a stand that folds away would be incredible for space usage during the day. There aren't any reviews or videos though.

I'd prefer something that can easily fold away and this looks like it might be easier than some of the other "foldable" models.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

So I sleep in a hammock every night and I'm using a cheap canvas hammock but I've seen online a bunch of different companies selling hand woven hammocks for like quadruple the price and I'm just wondering if they're worth the investment , because I'm the "if it isn't broke don't fix it " kinda person but I'm also just wondering if they're worth that much money comfort wise , I mean 200$ vs a canvas one being 40$ max

They're absolutely worth it for the labor if not more but I'm wondering if it has any advantages over my canvas one comfort or longevity wise

First world problem but one I’d love your advice on: the shock cord on my Incubator quilt is squeezing my feet when I sleep. I loosened the end/baffle part. Tried moving the quilt farther.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Trying to figure as much out at home before hitting the trail

I narrowed it down between these two, and I am also undecided because hammockgear sells the pad attachment kit for when I want to go tent camping, i will be able to use the same quilt on both my hammock and tent.

(Is this a bad idea? Do people get down to 20F on topquilts in tents?)

  • HammockGear Premium Burrow (20F), long, wide, sewn footbox: $357
  • JacksRBetter Sierra Sniveller (20F), long, sewn footbox, 25% overfill: $310

Hi, new to hammocks (absolute rookie) but a big fan from having used them at a friends house years ago. I've recently moved into an apartment with a large balcony (a small terrace really) and would absolutely love to be able to put up a hammock and enjoy the gorgeous weather.

I bought one and tried putting it up today but turns out the railing I have on the balcony is too low? The hammock kept stretching to the ground when I got into it no matter how taut I tied it. Probably good to mention its a spreader bar hammock.

Railing is 85 cms tall and max distance between tether points is 440cms.

Is there anything I can use that would work in these circumstances? Would love to be able to put up my hammock and stretch out under the sky without my bum hitting the balcony floor!

Many thanks in advance!

Is a separate small gear hammock my best and only option?

My moto gear weight is about 3-4 kg.

Thanks
