I've been happy settling into Mastodon soon after Twitter was sold. Anyone have strong opinions?

Andrew Wilson is reportedly being considered for Disney's top job. It's a big move in the entertainment world, with potential ramifications for fans of Pixar and Marvel as well as The Sims, Battlefield, and Dragon Age

Hi everyone, I'm Jeff.

You may have noticed there's been more posts here the past couple of months*. They say the grass is greener where you water it. I'd like there to be a viable alternative forum for gamedev conversation aside from the r/gamedev reddit. I have a lot of respect for the work the mods have put in over the years, and love for that community in general. But a lot of us are here because we're not fans of Reddit the company, or we have a general disdain for a monocultural Internet. I want us to have options, and this is something I can do to help that. So let me know if there's anything I can do to help this community or help you. You can help too, by submitting gamedev stories/posts you think are interesting.

About me: I'm a hobbyist with a long time interest in game development and the video game industry. By day I work in local news, so my interest in news/journalism is also pretty high, and (*)sometimes my schedule is screwy. But I asked for control of this community a sorry time ago , and I hope I do right by it. You can help by posting things you find interesting as well. If there's something in particular that could be arranged that you think would benefit a forum such as this, let me know!

And remember, if you're a Mastodon user, you can follow this community on there, at [email protected], and any replies to posts will show up here as comments on that post!

I don't know how popular this will be here, but it feels worth posting just in case.

The tweet from Cellar Door Games says:

It's been over 10 years since we released Rogue Legacy 1, and in the pursuit of sharing knowledge, we are officially releasing the source code to the public. https://github.com/flibitijibibo/RogueLegacy1/ Eternal thanks to @flibitijibibo for setting this up, and being with us since the beginning.

Getting your game noticed is a tricky business when you have to punch through the noise of the more than 10,000 new Steam games releasing each year. Young Horses, the developer of Bugsnax and Octodad, have found itself in an even trickier spot: Thanks to Google, people are expecting a Bugsnax sequel that doesn't exist.

"We are not working on a Bugsnax sequel right now and I need AI bs to stop telling kids we are based on a wiki ideas fanfic," Young Horses co-founder and president Philip Tibitoski tweeted earlier today. It turns out, through the wonders of algorithmic search result curation, Google's featured snippets have been informing people that Bugsnax 2 will be releasing in October 2024, despite the fact that neither Young Horses or any other developer are making it.
