My new broadcast for tomorrow's @Biesentales radio show "Too fast to grasp" airs from 19h30 to 21h Berlin time and will feature longer works by Tyshawn Sorey, Adam Rudolph, Sae Hashimoto, Russel Greenberg, Levy Lorenzo, Yarn/Wire, Emiliano Pennisi, João MS, Héliodrome and myself. The complete arrangement has been contextualized by an overlay of massively slowed/pitched down bat recordings from my back yard in Berlin for locality and its ambience.

I hope you'll enjoy and I'll post the complete tracklisting with links to artist sites afterwards, as always.
Please follow @Biesentales for regular updates.

Heather Stebbins piece "An Index of Fictions", composed for Yarn/Wire on Currents Vol. 9 is microtonal percussion layers versus tempered piano versus modular synth. That makes for quite an enticing journey for tuning tensions alone. Beautiful work & concentration.

Free music, #BandcampFriday

loading, lift and move:: 1 and Two
- https://dasandereselbst.bandcamp.com/album/1-and-two

loading, lift and move are Michael Thieke on clarinet and Maximilian Glass on electronics.
Clarinet and "feedback produced by electronics and resonating objects mutually dissolve while clarifying each other. Both Thieke and Glass manoeuvre a funambulist score, empirical as well as improvised, seeking a symmetry where a dynamic equilibrium leads to a static one."

Recording palms in the wind at 176KHz 24bit, ir order to drastically pitch them down later and then use the slowed down transients for #percussion works. Soothing already, few flute-sounding birds calling along.. #mauritius @contemporaryMusic group

I have a new release on 12", perfect of course for your elevated holidays.

▁jayrope (lurking) wrote the following post Thu, 14 Dec 2023 20:10:19 +0100

Released on 12" via Fluessig Records, Berlin: Wichtige Hinweise, composed and played on modular snyths by nkls and myself between 2019 and 2023.

https://fluessig.bandcamp.com/album/wichtige-hinweise

The album illustrates an ongoing lifeform-type-of conversation nkls and i have since several years about miniatures.
It's as brief and as pure as it can get, the pieces are transmutational and work without any additional deliberate listener pleasing (such as concert reverb ;)
Cover artwork by @Suetszu

We hope you'll enjoy.

Berliners can pick up a 12" with me directly for a pre-xmas price of 15€. Please contact via @_jayrope or jayrope.com/cntct/

Great fun: Csocsó's Tricycle. Quitze some electronic musical characters here, rarely synced in obvious ways, in 13 parts. The album comes across as absurd as it is elegant, complexity and depth, nerdiness and simplicity, while the mnaker remains in a half-secret space. Very lecker.

@Rafael Lozano-Hemmer has written a "Brief Chronology of Technological Culture in Mexico"
mentioning Raúl Pavón Sarrelangue's (1928-2008) "Omnifón", a probably half-modular synth he built himself in 1964 in Mexico.

This article positively absurdly on Github, and a feast to read:

Pavón
#^https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ra%C3%BAl_Pav%C3%B3n_Sarrelangue (en Español)
appears on "Música Electroacústica Mexicana", a compilation from 1984, with a piece "Fantasía Cósmica". You may find that on #Soulseek, if not anywhere else.
The following article
#^https://rupkatha.com/electroacoustic-music-mexico/ provides even more background, especially on electroacoustic music in Mexico.

If anyone is aware of any more released pieces composed/played with the Omnifón I'd be happy about a hint.

Released at 321 ppm, David Tudor's Bandoneon
https://inv.citw.lgbt/watch?v=DR70wfEyYro
His works should long be mainstream by now. But they seem to rather tend to be forgotten, let aside some specialist circles. What can we do more today, against #numbification and #dumbification?
