Koby talks about the players we brought in, how they can help us address our weaknesses and how the players and environment have been enticing to free agents.

For these summer league games, I'd like to try out a megathread for pregame, in game and post game discussion. If you have something to contribute that would be better served as its own post, feel free to make a post.

Game Time is 8:30est on NBATV

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10081536-guessing-every-nba-teams-top-free-agent-target-right-now BR's guessing FA teams should target and picks Bamba for us, a player I was already watching as a backup 4/5 we should consider. From the articke:

Cleveland's twin-tower tandem of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen wobbled more than the team would like during its first playoff run.

On a directly related note, the Cavs might be "more open to trading Jarrett Allen than advertised," per NBA insider Marc Stein.

That twosome shrinks Cleveland's offensive spacing, and newcomer Damian Jones won't change that. Mo Bamba could, though. The 7-footer has splashed better than 38 percent of his long-range looks each of the past two seasons.

If nothing else, he'd give this frontcourt a different look, as the Cavs could gain shooting without sacrificing size, like they'd have to do if they want any small-ball 5 minutes from Georges Niang.

Bamba's skill set is limited, but he's long, shoots threes and blocks shots. That's an interesting combination for a 25-year-old, and one Cleveland could want a closer look at.

Cleveland Cavaliers: A

Cleveland's goal this offseason was to come away with one viable wing to pair with their two star guards and their two star bigs. They ultimately landed two. Neither Georges Niang or Max Strus are especially strong defenders, but both will work wonders on an offense that took the seventh-fewest 3-pointers in the NBA last season. Besides, having Evan Mobley available to guard virtually any position makes it far easier to get away with questionable wing defense, and Isaac Okoro is still around as a defensive specialist when needed. Strus and Niang likely would have provided enough spacing for the Cavs to beat the Knicks, and now, they'll be around to help what should be an even better Cavaliers team this season. Caris LeVert was overpaid slightly at $16 million per year. It's hard to justify money beyond the mid-level exception for players who don't shoot or defend, but on only a two-year deal, he's extremely tradable and his contract will come off of the books right as Mobley's rookie extension kicks in. That's clever asset management for the Cavs in another stellar offseason.

It appears we send Cedi Osman and Lamar Stevens and a second round pick to San Antonio, along with a second round pick to Miami.

I'm sorry for the guy, but this clears a spot on the roster and in our minds

Do we still believe in LeVert?

The Cleveland Cavaliers "are monitoring the situation" as it relates to restricted free agent Grant Williams, according to Cleveland.com's Chris Fedor.

The Cavs could offer Williams the non-taxpayer mid-level exception, which is worth $12.4 million. Fedor also floated the idea of a sign-and-trade with Boston that included Cedi Osman draft compensation.

The Celtics have the option of matching any offer sheet Williams signs, and he has expressed a willingness to stay in Boston.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly targeting floor-stretching wings in free agency this summer, with Max Strus, Georges Niang and Kelly Oubre Jr. among their potential targets.

Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports highlighted the trio of free agents who could be on the radar in Cleveland, which will have the full non-taxpayer midlevel exception ($12.2 million) to work with.

Anyone in here from the r/clevelandcavs subreddit? I just saw nicks step down as a mod so I figured I’d ask and if your name isn’t the same as over there what was it?

He says there could be some outlandish things in the works, realated to the Cavs. Could literally be anything from a major trade to an obscure signing. Welcome to Silly Season!
