I'm not Canadian but you all need to nip this s*** in the bud.

Like multiple times a day when someone doesn't shoulder check when turning right, across a bike lane.

What's maddening is that the area surrounding this new store is among the best for dedicated bike paths in the city.

Ignoring that my country doesn't allow Idaho Stops, or that my Provincial Government wants to actively kill cyclists by removing safe cycling infrastructure, I've always wondered if there's a reason why cyclists aren't allowed to simply ride through an intersection like the one in the photo.

I'm talking about the right side, where the bike lane could extend through the intersection without interfering with other vehicles, including those that are turning left.

This would not only keep those stops safer (clears the cyclist out of the intersection), but would just make sense from a transportation efficiency standpoint.

Is there something I'm missing, or do cyclists have to stop only because motorists would take a tantrum if they weren't required to?

Edit: I want to thank eveyone for their generous help. I ended up getting the Advent X groupset and got it installed. Although I still have some tweaking left.

I have a Triban RC100 and am looking to convert it to 11 speed. Seeing as I had a budget, I found Sensah Srx Pro and Shimano Rs100 wheels. That was when I got stuck.

I am looking to have some lower gears that would work offroad so what cassette would be compatible?

Thank you for your help.

I was hoping to grab a wider set of wheels to use on my Cannondale Synapse and use it as a gravel bike. Has anyone tried this? I have 28s on there now.

In a move similar to reddit or twitter, Strava is restricting API usage, and other policy changes.

I think an alternative to strava, which is also federated, would be really cool

EDIT: I know you can record teacks and keep them offline and there is plenty of ways to do so. I think the main aspect of Strava is the possibility of sharing the activities with contacts on strava itself. Like for peertube or pixelfed, the fediverse has the potential to allow any user to share what they like and the other users can see, boost, comment, from their mastodon, pleroma, froendica or wharever accounts. The fact that someone wants to share a track is his own business.

Hey folks, I am just realizing that the Cannondale gravel bike I got this summer is not compatible with my Saris Fluid 2 indoor trainer. I'm going to go buy a thru axle adapter next, but do you have any other tips for happy riding indoors with this setup?

For instance, can I keep the stock tires or will they wear out quickly on the trainer? What does "quickly" even mean? Like, if I ride for 1 hour per week, will I wear out the tires this Winter?

Anything else I should worry about when switching to indoor riding?

Thanks for any tips!

And before anyone asks: I will still ride outdoors as much as I can, but where I live, that won't be possible every weekend this Winter.

I'm looking for a front light "for being seen" that can be mounted under K-Edge mount - GoPro adapter. Not looking for something heavier that illuminates the road ahead (thought I might in future). It has to e rechargeable, USB-C preferably and available in EU. Any suggestions? TIA

The city of Denver is revising plans for a protected bike lane on 29th Avenue, near Sloan’s Lake, after nearby businesses complained about the potential impact on parking.

My summary: we'll never have streets safe for people as long as we always cave to cars and drivers.

I had a GCN subscription until they were bought up by discovery, and now I've found out that the TdF won't be on free-to-watch tv in my home country any more I'm running out of places to view it; where you lot get your professional cycling fix from?

Where I live, it'll soon be dark by 16:30. I have a good headlight and an ok taillight on my winter ride but I'd like to add some fun, funky lights for added visibility and lolz. There's a lot of crap out there especially on Amazon, what have you all had good experiences with?

I went on this beautiful ride last week. I'm a relative n00b and the ride easily exceeded my skill level, but it was fun!

Is it riding into a head-wind on the last stretch of your ride?

That's mine. I hear Danny Glover from ~~Die Hard~~ Lethal Weapon in my head every time...

EDIT: Correct movie referenced

This store just opened up a few months back, and they had zero bike parking.

I emailed their head office, saying that I was planning to shop there, but not until they added a bike rack.

Went to check last night, and boom! Bike rack!

Anyone who has journeyed deep into the mountain ranges of Europe to take on some of the legendary climbs of the Grand Tours understands what it is like to stand on top of a mountain, breathing in the cold, thin air while surveying landscapes that roll away far below.

But British adventurer and all-round action man Neil Laughton, 60, took that achievement several levels higher when he journeyed to Nepal to set a new Guinness World Record for the highest ever bike ride.

Teaming up with Nepali Sirdar Nima Kanchha Sherpa, the pair rode and carried their bikes to the top of the 7,246-metre high Putha Huinchuli mountain over a period of several days, were Laughton rode 20 metres at the highest point, before turning tail and journeying back down again.

Laughton's machine of choice was a Brompton, while Nima used a Cube mountain bike for the ride.

in 1986, mountain bikes were making their mark in Canada, as cyclists swapped out their 10-speeds for more rugged rides. This CBC news segment from The National explores the early days of the mountain biking craze, featuring enthusiasts like Ian K., who traded his Volkswagen-like commuter for an $800 mountain bike, likening it to driving a Porsche. While the trend was just beginning, the piece questions whether mountain biking would remain a luxury niche or become a mainstream activity as prices dropped and mass availability rose. Originally aired on May 26, 1986.

I was always wondering this. Imagine a steep descent. What is better for brake wear - braking constantly or more powerful just at the end? Anybody knows? Goes for both rim and disc brakes
