He told police he believed the woman had cut him off in traffic and although he acknowledged their vehicles had collided, he "did not admit the collisions were intentional," according to the document. Lovell told police there were two handguns in his vehicle, but he said "he did not know why he would have shot his gun and could not recall any part of the shooting incident," according to the affidavit.

The store on Anderson was definitely a fixture in my daily scenery at one point. Never went in though.

Looks like they broke into a vehicle next to a Tesla based on the pictures of the suspects.

How would you like a job that pays roughly $30,000 a month and requires no documented work output? That's the kind of gig two longtime associates of Interim City Manager Jesús Garza and Mayor Kirk Watson landed this year, without competition from other candidates. From February to July, each was paid roughly $150,000 in taxpayer dollars to provide vaguely defined consulting services through subcontracts that were not approved by City Council – even though that amount of money usually requires Council authorization. The two consultants – Laura Huffman and Joe Canales – are on track to end the year as two of the highest-paid workers at City Hall (though as outside consultants, they don't get benefits offered to full-time employees, such as health care). At the rate the pair has been billing, each could make more than $420,000 by year's end – an annualized rate that exceeds that paid to Garza ($350,000) and approaches that paid to Austin Energy General Manager Robert Kahn ($475,009), the city's two highest-paid full-time workers.

General information: https://www.austintexas.gov/department/311

Personally have used it to report nonfunctioning lights, broken crosswalk signals, garbage dumped on public/private property, broken fountains, public bathroom issues. Most issues resolved within 1 week.

Don’t use this while driving, please. Take mental note then report. This is for NON-EMERGENT issues only. Call 911 if situation needs immediate attention.

It's an interview with Brian Fuchs, a climatologist with the National Drought Mitigation Center, which publishes the Drought Monitor map. He talks about the center itself, He talks about how they determine drought, considering lots of different factors and their impacts. There's a distinction between short-term and long-term drought. He compares the current situation with 2011, which was actually the peak of a long drought that lasted until 2015 or so.

Brittany Petrilli, Secretary of the Austin Museum Partnership, expresses her excitement, stating, "Austin Museum Day is a cherished annual celebration in the Austin community, and we're sending out an open invitation to all to embark on a day of exploration! We have both flagship institutions and smaller, hidden gems in the Austin area ready to share their experiences.

Council documents from March said the item aimed to help with traffic congestion, adding money collected through the paid spots would go toward “proposed improvement projects.”

Fire was nuts, bros. State, and local LEOs blocked off the entire area between 2nd St and 4th St. 2 firehouses responded. Whole squad showed up.

I am thinking it’s a grease fire in the vents. Restaurant probably never properly cleaned the vent hoods. If you ever walked by that place, the fumes from whatever they were burning were quite dank (made my eyes water).

Also rubbernecking dipshits worsened traffic and almost got hit by a dumbass driver while crossing the streets, smh.

“My account was showing the water usage for my neighbor,” she said. Austin Water has so far, installed about 168,000 of the 250,000 meters. The company expects to be done by 2025.
KXAN Investigates wanted to know how many other customers have complained about suspected inaccurate readings from the new meters. But we didn’t get the records because an Austin Water spokeswoman said the company doesn’t track that information.

If someone was looking to practice a loud instrument (think drums or brass), are there any public spaces one could book? In college (not Austin) we had sound proof rooms in the arts building where you could set up in and practice. Are there public spaces like that in any local schools, colleges, or libraries?

A federal judge in Texas has stopped the state’s ban on drag performances, which was scheduled to go into place Friday, enforcing a temporary injunction on the measure in a win for LGBTQ rights advocates.

A group of drag performance groups, led by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Texas, filed a suit against the state early this month claiming that the law is overly broad and infringes on their freedom of speech.
