I believe it was a B-side of a Japanese import.

Waxahatchee is back with another great collection of songs similar to her 2020 album Saint Cloud. If you liked that one then you'll like this one.

Every one knows the B52s for "Love Shack" or maybe "Rock Lobster", but way earlier they were making music

rumored to be a fanciful tale of a woman whose boyfriend was eaten by a shark; c'mon it has to be good

I mentioned Miles Hunt in my previous She Makes War post. So I want to post a Wonder Stuff song.

Don't have time to write that much about this, so here is their Wikipedia page.

I first got intro'd to the music of Laura Kidd AKA She Makes War, Penfriend and Obey Robots in about 2010. I didn't really take enough time to really listen to her stuff properly, so didn't get very engaged with her work.

I just started to give it another go and I have to say, her work is pretty terrific. There's lots of musical variation across her different releases and personas. This song is pretty straight up indie rock, but there's also electronic and folk elements on certain songs, as well. Some nice collabs with people like Tanya Donelly and Miles Hunt, too. If you dig deep enough, you can even find the club bangers and punk rock she was involved with in the 2000's.

This band is based in Bristol in the UK. They sound a lot like The Velvet Underground, so they also sound like Luna/Galaxie 500 and all the other VU influenced bands. There's also hints of Cowboy Junkies and Wilco on some songs and a little bit of Belle and Sebastian. Their discography is worth a listen, and they have a new album out right now, too.

I believe they are from Toronto. They are in my mental filing system next to The Sundays, Cocteaus and Innocence Mission. This is a lovely song.

Awesome to hear this dude's angel voice again! Just a couple weeks ago, Shogun, best known as the powerhouse front man of Royal Headache, made his triumphant return (let's not forget the neat 2018 Shogun and the Sheets 7" though) with the debut EP of Finnoguns Wake, the duo comprising of him and Finn Berzin and now, pretty much out of nowhere, there's also the debut EP by another band of his, Antenna, popping up which, of his projects so far, aligns closest to the oldschool Royal Headache vibe in terms of its song material while moving on from the rough garage sound towards a somewhat slicker aesthetic inbetween the parameters of straight-up melodic punk rock, noise- and power pop with a kinda unexpected Leatherface edge to it. Sweet!

"You Can Play These Songs With Chords" version. I prefer it over the "Something About Airplanes" version because of the opening.
