I'm working on a large photo series, and I regularly meet with about 10 other photographers. I usually bring them prints and ask which ones they like best, but is there an app that could do a similar job? My ideal app would allow me to open a folder and show the images either at random or a defined order, and have the viewer rate them. The next viewer should be able to rate the images without seeing the previous ratings. I would then be able to view the scores each image got.

Is anything like that in existence? I'm aware of apps like lightroom but I want to canvas a group not just rate them myself. Ive seen plenty of "rate this" websites so hoping a similar interface exists for local devices.

I have trouble understanding how to set a fix shutter speed with my camera.

Once I chose a SP, my camera take the picture with the right one then if I take another one shortly after it tries to adapt the shutter speed to have more or less exposure.

Is there a way to remove this option?

For info, I tried in S and M mode, with manual ISO, manual focus, manual WB, and I made sure that the "multiple exposure" option was off in the setting menu.

A quick bug-dense hike on Mt. Seymour this morning to Goldie Lake. Still a surprising amount of snow for late June on the trails.

I’m looking for an amateur (≤ €500) digital camera for my dad. The main issue I’d like to alleviate is the slow autofocus on his current one. On his (and my very old, very cheap camera), the autofocus takes about a second, sometimes even more to find the right focal length. He laments that he’s unable to take a quick snapshot of a fleeting moment due to this.

I initially hoped I would find some metrics on this in cameras’ technical specifications. But so far, none have turned up. Guides often critique or praise the autofocus feature, but don’t provide a sense of how quickly the lenses adjust, either.

This leads me to these questions I now put to you to judge: Am I naive to expect a single number to adequately represent the amount of time the autofocus needs to focus? What contributing factors would render such a metric irrepresentative, if it existed?

My university is kicking me off their free creative cloud by the end of the summer. What are the best Lightroom alternatives?

There's nothing quite like a toddler experiencing lots of holiday lights! I liked the expression here but also how the lights caught in her eye and the strong colored contrast at night.
