I've moved into a place with one of these systems and it seems to have a lot of benefits. But I prefer to open a window every day and get fresh air in. Doesn't that cancel out the advantages of the heat exchange system?

(I searched before posting and this seemed the most appropriate magazine, but let me know if there's a more specific community you think would fit better!)

I am looking for a reliable dehumidifier to help keep my apartment livable. I have very poor ventilation and the humidity is too high when we're not around to open windows. Ideally the unit would be programmable so I can keep it to a certain humidity level.

These are original non-metalic cables located in our crawlspace. They're stapled to the main beams, and all look pretty warn near where the staples are.

How dangerous is this? I'd prefer not to have to rewire if possible.

I need to enter the attic via this gable vent hole, unfortunately I can't fit. My thought is maybe I should install a 2x4 against the (what I assume is original) lighter colored beam to the right, and another for good measure at the left side of the hole.

thoughts?

A few years ago I purchased a fire-rated Therma Tru door. It was full of concrete and amazing at blocking noise. I moved and want one at my new house, but they don’t seem to make them any more. Their fire rated doors now have some light weight foam core.

Does anyone know of any companies that make super dense residential front doors that are good at blocking sound?

Thanks,

Crosspost from the other HomeImprovement Lemmy community. Genuinely at a loss with this scenario and need ideas/help.

We're planning to tear out the GOD AWFUL 1970s carpet that's covering our entire house. Allegedly there's original oak hardwood underneath.

Anyway, what projects are you all up to?
